new here--withdrawls...
Hey everyone
I have been reading here for a while but this is my first computer and i couldnt figure out how to post--finally i can--my name is laura and i am an alcoholic--been in AA3 yrs--have 2 sober days--had 9 mos. at one point--it was a happy time--anyway i would like to share what happens when i withdraw from alcohol--bear with me--
--horrifying pressure on my heart and palpatations
--afraid i called someone
--madness
--vomit blood
--BAD tremoring
--horrible embarassment
--crapping my pants
--night terrors
--cant hold things--shaky
--cant think
exhaustion
--hospital treats alkies horribly
--fear/terror of withdrawls
--horrible bruising
--broken bones
--cant care for animals
--blackouts
--lose things
--messy house
--stabbing myself in blackouts
--taking full bottles of pills when blacked out
--seizures,unwanted sex, trouble with law
--loss of family (kids,extended family etc),cracked skin and nails,hair falling out, teeth decaying from alcohol and vomiting so much,the wretched smell on pillows,blankets,self etc.
--scabs in nose from dryness,and horrible dehydration,thirst
These are but some of what has or does happen during drinking and withdrawls--i do dnot share it to be dramatic or have a war storyjust so if anyones alcoholism has not yet reached this point--i guarantee you----IT WILL
You guys all seem nice and i hope to get to know you--i never want to go thru THAT stuff again

Hello Laura--Welcome to SR! Glad you found us. My name is Laura, too, and I am recovering alkie/pothead. I just celebrated 2 years last week. I look forward to hearing more from you. This is a great place for support and encouragment. Hang out and get comfy!!!
