Stay sober or 3 months to live

My name is Joel
I'm 21 years old from Canada
I am a severe alchoholic. I started out smokin bud and then by 17 was drinking on a regualr bases. By 18 i was drink 24/7.
Been drunk the past 4 out of 5 years(sobered up for a year) and consumed lethal amounts of alcohol.
I also started banging blow(shooting cocaine) and was instantly hooked.
The last time i had a drink was 6 days ago(Jan19/06).
I was hospitalized after new years with pancreintitus. Was there for a week in which the doc's and nurses told my family and myself that my pancreis is totally rotten and ugly from power drinking and the infection level was at 781 while a typical pancreas infection is from 75-115.
I was told if i go on another drunk i could die and live only a few months.
Stayed sober for 2 weeks when i got out but screwed up last week-end.
Got **** loaded.
I smoke weed every night now to take the edge off and am reading lots to keep busy.
Just thought I'd introduce myself to the fourm as I am new here and am new to fourms in general

Welcome to SR Joe!

You've come to a good place. It really sounds like your pancrease/health is in dire need of help. 21 is too young to die and you have so much of your life ahead of you. Living under the influence of substances is pure hell and it only gets worse the longer you remain in your addiction. I probably don't need to tell you that.

You will get a lot of really good advice here. I suggest you read as much as you can and the more you do the more you will find you can relate to the folks up here. Their stories will help you understand your addictions better and I hope you will find it in yourself to give stopping them a go.

So, welcome!

Suga

Welcome Joel! Glad you're here. I'm sorry to hear about your serious health problems. Your drinking has literally come down to a life-or-death situation. Please stick around and keep posting, k? There are many, many members here who've pulled themselves out of the bottle. I'm sure they can help you, too. I'll pray for you, Joel. Please don't drink anymore. I don't want you to die.

Hi Joel welcome to SR

Alcoholism will kill you if you let it . Pancreatitis is a VERY serious disease, and a painful and terminal disease if not adressed.

You are extremely young to be facing this disease, and I would take your docs advice very seriously. I am sorry to be so blunt, but I have nursed people with pancreatitis and its not good.

PLEASE get some help and support to stop drinking. Ring AA, go to rehab, do whatever you need to do , but take some ACTION

i wish you the stregth to do this for yourself

AA Works

Joel/Bscotia: AA has worked for me since March 21/1990. I have not had a desire to drink or use since then. Give AA a try. It sure beats the alternatives; jail, institution or death. When I came to AA I could not stay sober longer than two or three days and when I started snortin blow I wouldn't stop till both my nostrils were bleeding so bad that I would plug them with toilet paper and start smoking it off a cigarette. There are a lot of meetings out there, where you will meet people just like you.

Hello Joel-
I'm also in Canada.

Oh man, I hope you will be able to quit drinking. I don't want you to die. Please stay sober....whatever it takes. A bit of pot to take the edge off is a good plan to get you through the hard part. That's what I did when I first quit drinking. I quit pot recently, as I really got into my AA program. Give AA another try, it really helped me.

At all costs, stay sober buddy. Your Lord will give you the stength to pull through. There are many of us here who can relate to your situation, and you are not alone. I'll pray for you tonight. Keep praying, and keep coming back!!
peace be with you,
chip

Welcome to SR!

For you with your health issue...to drink is to die.

Get back into AA....I see miracles in every meeting.
Become one.

Blessings...
