Hands Across Time Zones

A shout out to Winelover, Etimee, 51Anna, Roadie58, Bikewench, and anyone else who would like to jump in!

Because SR slows down during the wee-hours of U.S. time, some of the folks "across the pond" feel the need for speed (not that kind)...just somewhere there's a bit more action/sharing during their six-hour time difference.

This thread could also be helpful to those (like myself) who are up 2 - 3 times during the night. Or, those night owls who don't hit the sack until way past midnight.

This is the place to share...whenever...whatever!

Hopefully...if I'm up at 2:00 my time (I think there's a six hour difference), I'll be sure to look for you.

BTW...I, too, am a winelover...although I haven't had any in 26+ years.

It's 4pm and my kids come home any minute. Now that the user list is so long, I have to log out. I never get to see how active it is at 10pm in the US. That's OK though, since I can still post and read. But I do like feeling like I'm having a conversation. I don't get to talk much here.

raerob, We just moved from NJ and will probably move back there in about a year. I know that you're 6 hours behind me. I'm sure you would rather get a good night's sleep, but I'll enjoy your company if you're awake.

My cousin and his family lived in Paris for a year or so...he was transferred there by his company. It was a great experience for all of them. He's retired now...they have a home in Cherry Hill...and a winter home in Florida. Rough life! But, he deserves it...he's a good guy, and worked hard to get where he is.

Where are you from in Jersey?

It's a little after 10:00 a.m. here, so I think I'll have a cup of tea and some toast...I don't need it, but I want it...just like the booze...some things never change!

We lived in Sparta, but I don't think we'll move back there. My husband's office will be in East Hanover.

WOW!!! You'll be a whole lot closer to me! I'm just "down the road a piece", as my cousins in rural Pennsy would say.

It must be dinner time by you now...almost lunch time here.

Cool thread, I like the title. Ok, lets work out the time thing. So when it's say evening hours across Europe, say 5-10 pm, when you're most likely to post, what time is it State-side?

I'll go to a google time zone search to figure it out. Be right back...

Okay, so I googled Time Zones and found this calculator. I used Paris France as a central point for Europe, isn't everywhere else maybe 1 hour ahead/behind?

So if its 5 PM in Paris, it's 11am in NY and 8am in CA
and if its 10 pm in Paris, it's 4 PM in NY and 1 PM in CA

So for us Americans, think of Europe as 6 hours ahead if you're on East coast and 9 hours ahead if you're on West coast. When it's middle of night here, they're just waking up. When we're having dinner, they're going to bed. When it's really late here, they should be sleeping. And so on.

Please correct me if I've screwed this up!!!

Here in Greece, we are 7 hrs ahead of East Coast Time.

5-10pm here would be 10am-3pm East Coast Time.

Thanks for posting, so I pretty much got it right?

When do you usually post? We'll try to show up for ya!

My clock says 1:30 EST right now (I'm in Indianapolis, in the midwest- just south of the Great Lakes area) , so you're 8:30 in the evening, correct?

So talking to Europe DOES NOT require us late nighters to log in, although we might, to chat to those across the pond in their early morning to noon hours.

If those joining in this adventure would put an ACTUAL location in their member profile, it would appear next to every post. I think this would help us to understand where each other are posting from and in figuring the time differences.

So to get to Australia from here, it's MINUS 8 to 12 hours, and it's TOMORROW there.

My brain hurts, can I go home now?????

So the middle of nighters will be chatting with someone in the afternoon in Melbourne.

Or is it Tuesday?
