For the newcomer: 9 months today!
I didn't want to post that I've been sober for 9 months to get praise. I wanted to share it with the newcomer so they can see that it does work and how it works....
I joined AA and went to meetings.
Got a sponsor and called that sponsor frequently
Joined a group and got active
Asked for help
And most importantly, didn't pick up a drink or a drug, NO MATTER WHAT!
As a result of doing those five simple things one day at a time,
my outlook on life has done a complete 180. I feel amazing. I love and am true to myself, and I don't drink or drug.
What I have today is here for the taking. It's available to anyone who wants to get and stay sober....
Hope that helps someone, somewhere..

Thank you Anna, for someone like me who has been sober for only 2 days its encouraging to think that I may be able to stay clean for 9 months also.
I really hope so as I want it so bad.

Anna Ive wondered about the months, years and days thing myself. I thought it was funny at first but now I do not. Its a reward in itself Its an accomplishment it needs to be rewarded. Its a way the appreciate the hard work it takes to stay sober and it is hard work even though you all make it look easy. I like it and I think its great. 2 days 9 months 25 years all the same little accomplishment unto the big picture staying sober for ones who have the disease of alcoholism. 2 days wupee 9 months wupee. For me its 14th day and I deserve to be rewarded, Im special. I have a special disease. Im in a very special club of smart hard working people> I thank you all for inviting me into your very rare air.

Thanks Anna,
I won't say I'm "looking forward" to nine months sober as much as I'm looking forward to the rest of my life sober. Don't get me wrong, nine months is an extremely significant milestone--congratulations. Here's looking forward to the rest of our lives everyone. :beerchug:
P.S. That's rootbeer in those mugs.
