Hey ISITR, I too hit my 1 month mark today. Yay for us! I know it is a milestone of sorts... I am really grateful that I have made it this far. It is the longest I have ever made it without drinking since I started wanting to stop and I am hopeful that I will continue keepin on and holdin on. I just wish I felt more of a sense of success. I want a life too. I want it bad. Bad enough to give up my ol' pal alcohol. I want more of me and none of "it". Hell I didn't even remember most of me when I was on "it".

Congrats to you. You are on your way to having exactly what you want. A life... free of your self-medication. I'm kinda glad someone else is where I am today. Thank you for posting. We're not alone.

Yup, I wanted a life, too. Once I managed to stop drinking and drugging for 7 months. I was so miserable that I went back. What I learned is that stopping drinking was only the first step. Working a program of recovery is what gives me some serenity and joy and what makes life worthwhile. I use AA's 12 steps as my program of recovery and life does get better and better. What are you doing to STAY sober?
