Belated welcome wiscgirl!

Keep reading, keep posting and find something that will work for you. Most of us couldn't do it alone. AA is not for everyone but gratefully today there are many options, I learned here, I found what worked for me here then took action. It's a scary path someday's but in the end the blessings are so much more worth the hard times. It takes some getting used to, developing and finding a new routine not consumed with drinking but I promise, if you just stick with it, life will get so busy with your family, your kids, new interests drinking will be on the backburner and eventually dust in the wind. You hang in there k? I know you can do it because this hopeless drunk has..just one day at a time.

Hey there, Wiscgirl -

Belated welcome! I don't have much to add, other than to lend my support along with all the others here. Sounds like you're ready to stop the madness. I have used both AA and SMART in my own recovery - the two don't have to be mutually exclusive, in my opinion. I found that I needed to use anything and everything that made sense or that helped me even a little bit, regardless of the source.

I wish you the best - keep reading, and find a program that fits you.

glad you're around,
anne
