Clean today
Hi everyone, relatively new to this site, but not to recovery. I've been 'around the tables', so to speak for a number of years. Had accumulated 2 1/2 years of clean and sober time before my last 'road trip'. I am back to the point where I am commited to being clean and sober, everyday, 24 hours a day, period. Please don't suggest meetings, sponsors or 12 steps. I have tried that route and am not a fan. I intend to use this site as well as others on the net and the establishment of heathier habits (eating healthier, excercise) also making positive changes (going back to college) I don't believe I have to continually attend meetings or I will end up in jail , institutionalized or dead. I don't also wish for this thread to become a pro/con AA/NA thread. I just wanted to make it clear that I know about these options, and they are not for me. I hope this doesn't sound too negative, as I hope to make some friendships on here and use this forum for support. One thing that will make it difficult at times is that I do live with an alcoholic and that is not about to change, but again, I have no desire to get caught up in the 12 step routine of al-anon either. So that's it. Here I am, day 1 again for me, and I'm not going to change my mind this time. I've learned my lesson well. I'm NOT a grateful recovering addict, I AM GLAD to be clean and sober today. OK, I guess that's enough for now (maybe too much? lol!)
