The First Meeting
The First Meeting
I went to my first meeting, (well, first meeting this time on the bus), and guess what?
THEY DIDN'T BITE
It was a great meeting probably because I have changed, I was willing.
In the old days, (circa 1998), I would go to meetings, hang in the back, not introduce myself and get close to a panic attack it looked like I might have to open my mouth and say anything.
Yesterday was a 12 step meeting with the book being passed and each person reading and then sharing their experience.
As the dreaded book came closer and closer, I turned it over and decided not to cop out, not to plan what to say, just to read the paragraph and make some honest comments.
WELL, (now here is the HP part of the story), as I took the book ready to roll the group leader looked at me and said, "I'm so sorry, we are out of time". I was disappointed!!!
As I drove away I was LMAO thinking of all the other meetings and times I would have thought I had been "saved by the bell".
In any event, I liked the people, liked the experience and I am going again tomorrow.
I am realizing it is never to late to get it, it is never to late to change.
I can also say it is doubtful I would have gone to a meeting if not for all the support and advice I have gotten here at SR. Thanks to everyone for the shared experiences.
In any event,
I am just happy I am sober TODAY.
