Good Steps
I've done a lot of work uncovering the under-ground support groups in my area. I started off with working with the AA national web site, then down to the regional sites. Neither had notice of meetings in my small town.
I had to dig further. I put out discreet contacts. I was scared about anonymity.
But, an unexpected champion stepped up and gave me a hint of a rumor. I worked that information until I found that my small town has meetings, and that I don't have to drive all over Creation in order to find one.
I have a difficult question which I will ask in another thread.
For now, I am glad that there are meetings here.

Hi...the 12/12 state that the tradition of anonymity is at the level of press, radio and films. NOT at the level of meetings. If a person wants to be anonymous in his community thats his privelige....but AA realizes that an open ex-drunk or ex-druggie
can do a world of good. Anonymity at the level of press, radio and films keeps a drunk or junkie from announcing on TV..."I found AA and now I'm cured" ...and a month later that person is found on a hiway drunk, driving, loaded... and under arrest.
God bless

I didn't realize Jack. I thought it was to prevent groups from using the AA name as a money maker or fundraiser. Thanks for the heads up.
Welcome to the boards IWanttoStop.
Welcome to the boards IWanttoStop.
Well I think what IWanttoStop is saying is that in this small town, everybody knows everything and "underground" is really a bunch of regular meetings like we go to but is not readily available to the public eye. Maybe there is no listings in intergroup. Am I on the right track IWanttoStop?
Anyway, I am glad you found meetings in your area.
