Well, I think the guy who interviewed me on Thursday was unhappy because he didn't think I was forthcoming enough about my addiction on my application. So I'm not hopeful about getting the position. But that's fine because when he described to job to me, it wasn't really what I thought/hoped it would be.

Now I have another interview next week and I told the guy up front that I'm a recovering addict. He said he still wanted to meet with me, so we'll see how that goes. Thank you all for your continued support!!

Love and hugs,
Eddie

Well, eddie, a proper 4th step ie inventory includes knowing our strengths and assets and owning them. How about listing all the things you like about yourself and are good at.?

Good point, liveweyerd! I did inventory my assets in my 4th Step. I'm just trying to stay humble and accepting since I also know I can be grandiose and intolerant. And I really need to get my 9th Step going, too. I'm totally bogged down right now. Need to talk to my sponsor about it again soon.

Wow! Eddie, I must come over to the states one day. Over here the mention of the word "Alcoholic" will get you removed from virtually any job instantly - can't imagine being able to discuss such stuff at an interview here.

I think you're wonderful. That amount of courage goes a long long way.

Thank you, Deg.!! I pretty much have to discuss it up front because they're going to find out sooner or later and it would look worse if they thought I was hiding it. The guy in talked to Thursday already thought I was not open enough about it because there was nothing on my application mentioning it. I almost felt like he was saying that he wouldn't even have interviewed me if he had known.

Love and hugs,
Eddie

Christie,
No, they didn't. That's one reason I'm a little pi$$ed off about the whole thing. That and the fact that the job was not at all as advertised. Grrr.

I haven't heard anything from either of my first two interviews, but I have a third interview on Thursday. Another pharmacist position. The guy asked me on the phone what I'd been doing so I went ahead and explained that I was a recovering addict, etc. He still wants to interview me, so I guess that's good. Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers again. Thank you!!

Cool! Just remember to be open and willing to receive whatever HP has planned for you!

My sponsor went into an interview explaining to the owner of the company that she's been in AA for the past three years (when he asked how she "resolves problems in her life"). So, I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing to let people know where you've been. I mean, as long as you feel comfortable divulging that information. She got hired, after all!

Good luck to you!

Thank you, Danielle!! I pretty much have to divulge that information. It's the only way to explain why I haven't been working and my rotten work history. Honesty. I'm just looking for a second chance and that's how I guess I'll put it. How does that sound?

That sounds great Eddie!

It realy sucks that people aren't more educated about addiction so they're not immediately scared off by hearing about it. However, I think everyone cal relate to wanting a second chance at some point in their lives and that should be a good thing to say.

Good Luck!

Love, Anna
