Any Suggestions

Hi,

I know there are millions of things I could be doing, but basically I am sitting around until 8 until I can go to a meeting, it is five now, and I have only been home from work since 3. I have already cleaned my house, and took my dog for a walk and it is terribly hot outside here in Atlanta. Any suggestions as to what can fill up my time? I am not sure what I like to do, besides the things for today I am choosing not to.

Thanks,
want

Hey there! I didn't realize you were in Atlanta! My sister lives there. She is in an area called "East Atlanta". Maybe sometime when I go visit her we could meet up at a meeting!

I know there are LOADS of things to do in Atlanta. How about looking up some good, healthy recipe and then going to one of the amazing Farmers Markets and buying all the ingredients. Then you could cook it when you get home from the meeting.

Actually, now that I look at the time of this message, I realize the time has already passed. Hope you found something to do, and maybe you can use my suggestion for next time!

Hi want2becelan, here is a list of things I do, hope it helps:
  • Read a lot
  • Meditate
  • Clean up the House, my car, the dogs, myself, basically anything cos it ocupies me and makes me feel good as well as burn of that energy
  • Watch Movies (I borrow a lot from the library)
  • Phone People
  • Go for long walks
  • Visit friends
  • Listen to uplifting Music (I think its important the Lyrics are uplifing to) for example Krishna Daas. Thats a big change for me as much of the music I used to listen too was not great lyric wise.
  • Sing along with the music
  • Dance with the Music
  • Work of course
  • Talk to everyone I meet
Things I going to take up
  • Expressive Dancing
  • Courses/Workshops that I feel will benefit me
What I try not to do is sit around getting into a mental rut. A friend of mine said; its impossible to be down if your moving or active in some way. I belive there is a lot of truth in that.

Thanks for all of your suggestions, I am off for the next couple of days which is good b/c I am only on day 5 and I feel like my brain is a jumbled mess, but bad b/c my husband will work the whole time and that is when I usually spend the days w/ my old friends pills and alcohol, but not for today at least. Thanks for your suggestions.

I like to spend a lot of time in the "your recovery story" section
and read stories. It makes the time go by fast and helps a ton.
Clean a closet and find stuff that you thought you lost 3 years
ago, lol. clean out a junk drawer so it actually closes without
having to cram stuff back in. It's amazing the things I never got
around to doing while drunk!
