Still New
I was sober ten years. That was six years ago. Since then I've been through relapse after relapse, treatment facility after treatment facility and things just keep getting worse. Last year I put together 11 months (the longest yet). I relapsed in april and now have 38 days. I go to meetings, call my sponsor, pray, read the liturature, follow suggestions, and search for my long lost spirit. Things got really bad, really fast this time. I think there was a reckoning. Right now I'm thanking God For this 24. Always open to suggestions

You've found a great place!!
Wonderful, caring people who share their experience, strength and hope.
It's become a lifeline for me, I hope you stick around.
You're worth the fight!!
You're here today, thats what counts!

Hi Neo...
I remember my years of relapse/recovery/relapse.
I read 'Under The Influence' by Dr. James Milam & Katharine Ketcham. The info there concerning how alcoholics process alcohol incorrectly was a eye opener.
That book + God + AA made me a winner over alcoholism!
Glad to see you...

It may be helpful to just concentrate on today--the present moment, perhaps not even looking ahead to the full 24. Just staying sober right now. If we stay in the moment and focus on what is in front of us right now we can't fall into bitter regret or fear of the future. You're never a failure until you quit trying. Press on and keep us posted. Blessings, Queenshenique
I could so identify! Went out after 6yrs and got a whole new story! I surrendered after 10 yrs and became willing as the dying can be, and I was dying. Just for today sounds good to me. Welcome back!
