my son and my dogs.
This is a picture of my son and my dogs. They are all I really care about in life and the are half way across the country. I wish I could give them all a big hug. I need it right now. Don't know if this picture will work or not.

Beautiful Tyler!!, Sending you a great big hug!!
I know how you feel Tyler, my youngest daughter lives with her dad, i sometimes wonder if she's just gotten used to life without Mom...and if it will always be this way, but, all in Gods time, not mine. All i can do is stay clean and sober.,...and pray.

Your son is a beautiful little boy and your dogs look like good companions for him. Like Wantneeda said, “All in God’s time.” He is going to need you and love you for a long time.

Oh my gosh! How CUTE is your little boy! You must be sooooo proud. I have a picture of my sons as my avatar, but I guess its too small for people to see properly.
I know how you feel.

Beautiful little boy, Tyler... just a doll. And I love your dogs! Nothing better than retrievers... gotta love 'em. Thank you for sharing! I hope that you are reunited with all of them sooner than later. I can certainly empathize with your pain. You have much to get well for... first of all, of course, for you.

Tyler,
I hope you can place your priorities in a different way.
God and sobriety first. W/O this in your life, you'll lose everything.
I promise you, everything will turn around for you. It has for me and so many other people in here

What an absolute DOTE! Too cute for words!!!! and lovely dogs too, but gorgeous lovely little boy - beautiful smile. As Cap said - put God (of your understanding) and recovery/sobriety first...ALL will fall into place, ok!

was almost 6 yrs before my son and i were back together- my last 2 years of using, first 4 yrs of recovery.
he and his mom decided it was right because i been living this program.
my actions were about loving, responsible, sober/clean living.
not boring, mind you
but now it was intentional adventure for th most part
anyway- my "kid" [18 in another month and 1/2] will RUN thru a parking lot to give me giant hugs. will plan entire weekends for he and i to go backpacking or fishing or just hang out and garden [huh?!?]
so in my step work, i came to the realization that my prayer could be: "help me to be a loving, unselfish father." period.
was 6 months later when he asked to stay w/me.

One of my highlights every year is being able to fly home and spend a week with my parents at the beach house. It doesn't much matter what we do, but just that fact we get to spend time with each other. <3 months and counting.

Again apologize for bringing back the 12 year old post, but wanted to give an update. Unfortunately both the dogs have passed away. They were greatly loved and I really hate the fact that I wasn't there for Buddy (the blonde one) he had a difficult death.
As far as my son goes, he is 17 and enrolled at an Early College Program. He is ranked #2 in his class and has never gotten anything but an A in any of his classes. This includes the Anthropology class and lab he took this semester. Going into the final he had a low B and was very distressed. Mind you this is Anthropology 201 and 201, sophomore college classes and he is technically a High School Junior. He pulled an A in both and retained his perfect record. This is a good thing because he has Ivy League aspirations and his parents have state school money!!
I wish I could claim more responsibility, but it was pretty much all his mother. She makes sure he stays in contact with me, never bad mouths me in front of him and is possibly the most supportive ex-spouse ever!!
This picture of David and his dogs is one of my favorite ones. The only one I might like better is the one of me, him and his mom, in our St Louis Blues gear with the Stanley Cup. Carolina had won it that year and they brought it to Wilmington. He was not quite a year old and of course he is grabbing for the Cup. As most hockey fans know, you are only supposed to touch the cup if you win it, but they let this one go.
Again, sorry to dredge up the old thread, but it was nice to talk about some good old memories,
