This is my first Day 1. Today is the day I put the alcohol behind me. I started drinking eight years ago after a back injury left me in pain. I'm allergic to most pain killers, so I started to drink when my back hurt. Then I kept drinking even when it didn't. The pain will come back, I'm sure of that, but I will not let be an excuse anymore. The alcohol has to go. I feel very determined in this decision, but I am also a little scared. Is anyone else here afraid of failure?

First off I like to welcome you. You found a great place here. Second, in answer to your question, yes. I'm afraid of failure. Many of us are. Getting sober isn't easy. The fear of failure is what helps keep me sober today. I know what will happen if I were fail and pick up today. It will take me back to a place I never want to be again. Congratulations on your decision to quit drinking. Reach out and use all the tools available to aid in your recovery. Do you have a recovery program? There are many out there and the extra support is comforting in our weak moments. Sobriety is a tough road to travel alone. Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.

Good job everyone!! You all have inspired me today! I am wishing another sober 24 for us all.
I'm feeling a little bit better now. I think I finally stopped beating myself up for using. I have to forgive and be gentle with myself.
We are all in this together!

Clean Dawg...
I have been a failure for the past 21 years of my life due to my alcohol addiction...I am more afraid of what I might actually accomplish SOBER!
It's all unfamiliar and very scary....but worth all the effort!!
Hang in there.....and hang out here when you can....good people!!
PEACE

Will somebody start one tommorrow or can I be a day late?
Stupid.
tommorrow I'm in, be sober by morning.
Sorry for the not so uplifting post.
I am trying...
Everyone in this go for it!
Maybe there could be a prize?
But of course there is...
I want to win it with everyone.
To sharing the prize.

Wonderboy you can start anytime you want. We are all in this together. By ourselves, we cannot, but together, WE CAN!! Amazing what we do when we have hands stretches out to us to pull us back up.
Stick around and keep looking forward.

Tomorrow day 5 for me. I am hanging in here. I called the AA hotline tonight and talked with someone.
I'm starting to feel a little optimistic. I can't wait until I can say I've been clean for a year but I have to start with today.
It does keep getting better and better and I'm holding on to that thought.
