Thanks Mags! Shotgun 🎉

I look forward to babysitting my almost 8 year old granddaughter this Saturday . Will probably watch the Superbowl too.

Been reading here but not posting much.

Hi everyone. 🙋‍♀️

I gave myself the Loving gift of sobriety last Feb 14th. Made it 38 days and drank. Shook it off and have been sober since March 27 last year. Happy Valentines everyone.

Mags1 02-07-2024 08:09 PM

Good to see you Offthemast  Gift of Sobriety. A great phrase, :)

Hi Dee

Hi Zencat, I missed you there. Bazooka is a good word. I’m sure it has an origin. One of my favorite words is chicane. Just rolls off the tongue.

Hi friends :ValA014:

Thanks Mags :V1

I used to dread Valentines Day, and would and use it as an excuse to get plastered. Now it’s just a chance for more self care….including my recovery :Val004:

No Super Bowl for me….counting down the days until Puppy Bowl instead! :ValB002:

Robbie64 02-07-2024 11:48 PM

Thanks Mags. I'm IN for another sober weekend!

saoutchik 02-08-2024 01:04 AM

I will be sober this weekend!

Thank you for another fine opening post Mags!

I'm in that annex to Hell otherwise known as the dentist's waiting room. Fortunately it's just a routine check up and i've not had any tooth issues in the last 6 months so fingers crossed...

Wondering who sent you a card on Valentines Day? = Good

Wondering who sent you a card on Fathers Day? = Bad!

Quit for this weekend and every weekend. Went to the specialty clinic yesterday where the ultra sound was done. Of course they won't give them to me so I will have to wait for my vet to call me which I trust will be today as he was in a hurry for the test to be done. I am so appalled the way they treat people at the specialty clinic where I took Hercules. I was in the waiting area and overheard the desk talking to a lady whose dog was there. She had three choices and she elected the leg amputation. The person at the counter flat out said, "Well you will have to pay half of that up front which is $3,258." She had to apply that to two credit card transactions and the desk person was short and rude the whole time. I would have walked out myself but they are the only place in town that offers pet owners an ultra sound. I was half tempted to anyway because unfortunately if if costs thousands of dollars to save my dogs life I will put him out of his suffering and get a new dog.

Mags1 02-08-2024 02:15 AM

Hi Purps, Robbie, Saou and DeplorableDog. :wavey: that vets was downright rude. No need for it at all. Shame there wasn’t cards on the reception to fill in about their service.

We’ve got snow but it’s not settling. A bit too wet to settle though.

In for the weekend.

Pledging for today. Day 493.

STDragon 02-08-2024 03:29 AM

Hugs DD. Our vet didn't have great bedside manner when we were dealing with the last days of our scruffy pup.

Thanks for the thread Mags! Another day off tomorrow for me as I slowly burn thru my remaining vacation days.

Futon shopping this weekend, we got rid of the bedroom suite from dear daughters room and are turning it into a multifunction music/math/study room.

Valentines?!

I don't have any plans for this weekend, and that's just the way I like it.

Less is more when the goal is a drama-free and serene life (as much as possible, right?) All of that possible due to sobriety and the personal boundaries I have in place.

I think it's time for Kwame and his rose snack. I was at the zoo the other day and Kwame is not getting along with Female #1. It's always something with them. The baby gorillas are still pretty small, and they just never stop with all their energy - especially the male. :)

Morning All. I’m in! Totally forgot about Valentines Day, the only important day I had in my mind was Pancake Day haha 😂

Same here Mags, lots of snow but it’s too wet to settle much. I was supposed to have a hospitality appointment this aft but did decide to cancel as it’s still dodgy on the roads. I am more worried about the terrible drivers out there than the weather!

Got to see the surgeon on Tuesday about the upcoming surgery and just want to get it done now, bored of waiting (not that it has been long). Once I know the date and recovery time I can start to plan other stuff for the summer. I am planning to do a half marathon walk along the coast for charity in September and need to get in some training with local walks.

Yesterday I spent the afternoon sorting out my coal bunker. At the end of the year in summer when it’s empty I used to scoop up all the coal dust and clean it out ready for winter. Haven’t done that for 4 years and half the bunker was compacted with damp coal dust, surprised I didn’t create some diamonds lol. Took hours scooping out a full bin bag of coal sludge and I looked like a chimney sweep when I was done. Also cleared the yard of broken glass from stuff that had been blown over, managed to bin two containers full of putrid slug juice which stank and finally reeled the hosepipe back that has been sat on the floor for at least 2 years. I feel so much better for getting all that done and was a good reminder that I can still do stuff!

Hoping everyone is doing well and hugs to anyone that needs it x

Manta
