New pb

I haven't visited here for a while but just wanted to boast, 2 months sober. Still just that first drink away from unraveling.
It's not easy. It's also hard to write about.
Any thing good/bad to expect going into month 3 and beyond?

Congrats on 2 months FC.
I started to feel like this could be a permanent change by month 3 - I hope you find the same

Congratulations on 2 months sober. If you keep working a recovery program leading to growth then it keeps getting better. Wait till you’ve got years and you look back and think “how did all of this good stuff happen?”. The beauty of recovery from alcoholism 🙏

Everyone is different but like Dee I was starting to believe it was really gonna happen by that time.
It did happen.

Congrats 2 months Finalcall

3rd month sober I was getting better clarity, more at ease of living life.. As sober time accumulates my wellness keeps improving with the daily recover work I do.

Keep on trucking

Thats amazing!!! I think the end of month 1 was when my alcoholic voice started acting like a bear in a cage. Seems like you're way past that! It is a huge accomplishment you should be very proud of yourself!!!!

The following is purely my experience and obviously may not apply to you at all.

I've lost count of how many times I relapsed after staying sober 3 months or more, and it wasn't until I fully committed to the recovery program of Alcoholics Anonymous that I was able to stay clean and sober for what is now going on 21 years. Consequently, I've come to conclude that there is a type of alcoholic who, like me, can only stay clean and sober by fully committing to AA. Thus, if you run into trouble with your recovery, I suggest you keep an open mind about the possibility that you, too, may be that type of alcoholic.

That’s fantastic, FC 👍 Yes, it’s not easy and to be honest it’s still a very vulnerable time. I was definitely still having cravings at that stage, and any provocation or stress could’ve easily caused a relapse.

Tips? A big one is to anticipate triggers if you can. For example, airports were one of my triggers, so any place or activity you’d previously associate with drinking must be considered a trigger. Be wary. We can’t avoid unexpected events, but try and avoid stress right now, which admittedly is easier said than done, but try. As for coping with unexpected stuff, long term sobriety is the best weapon, so start believing in yourself that this is going to happen. No reason you need to have a drink ever again. You’ll look back and wonder why you needed to drink, but that’s irrelevant when your life’s moved on and better. Oh and check SR more often 🙂

It's good to hear from you, FC, and well done on your recovery. For me, the 3 month point was when I felt much more confident in my sobriety.

You might experience a new self confidence in yourself. This happened for me when I put away all my early reservations about staying sober for the rest of my life. I didn't try to shove them out of the way. Something happened and they were no longer even slightly significant. It's a wonderful place to get to. I hope you find it.

Great to hear from you - congrats on the 2 months. Wonderful news.
Like others, 3 mos. was huge for me - the unsettled feelings I had early on disappeared, & I was more confident.

Good work on 2 months, FC.
Everyone's journey is different but we are all the same in that the more days we have sober, the better. Keep on going and you will reap the rewards.
