4 Months
4 Months
Hi all,
I reached 4 months of sobriety today.
I've been pretty ill this year due to a misdiagnoses and late treatment after contracting a virus. After hospitalisation I'm on the mend but now have neuralgia which is making life difficult. I'm having to be patient to deal with it. It's really affected my new job (but they've been very understanding), it ruined my 40th birthday last weekend and it's been quite depressing all round.
Anyway, I'm sober. A big part of that motivation was that I was approaching 40. I'm here, not drinking and moving forwards.
No huge urges to drink. The occassional fantasy about it, but I'm realistic about where that would soon take me.
I hope everyone is doing well.

Congratulations, Mavericks! Good to hear from you.
I wish I had stayed quit when I first tried at 40 - I lasted only 3 months due to a high pressure marketing job where I had to entertain clients. I kept trying but it took 15 more years to get sober long term. Stick with it friend.
