Sober Valentine - Weekenders 10 - 16 February 2023
Welcome, Kilo!
Robbie, that is very scary. Your body is sending you an urgent message to take care of yourself.
I'm grateful for sobriety right now (I mean, I always am, but some days, more so). Work is very challenging lately, and if I were not 100% sober and taking care of myself, I'd be crashing and burning right now. I'm acutely aware that the only reason I'm able to keep it together at all is because I wake up with a clear head and can work a full day without feeling foggy and cruddy. I can't wait to quit this job and go scorched earth on my exit interview. Lowly public sector employees like myself are truly taken advantage of, for such low pay. If I did not have another income stream, I wouldn't be able to afford to stay here. I only stay because I love the students, I feel somewhat loyal to some of the professors I work with, and the benefits and flexibility are good. Otherwise, it's a thankless and difficult job.

Hello dear Weekenders,
I'm pledging for a sober weekend.
Robbie, I'm glad you had your procedures in a timely manner. I hope the stents have given you some relief from your symptoms.
Happy Aus birthday Suze!
Least, I love the way you describe snuggling with your dear Billie. I can almost feel her warmth too. I would love to have a dog, but I need to be a lot better before considering this.
Hi, PJ. You are a wonderful dad to Roxy.

Hi, PJ. You are a wonderful dad to Roxy.
I definitely have a very good reason now for not drinking. I got out of hospital yesterday after going in on Monday for an ECG and an appointment with a consultant cardiologist. After speaking to him I got admitted to hospital for an angiogram. I've had 2 stents put in one of my arteries. My right coronary artery had severe narrowing (95%) in two places. I'd gone to see my Doctor last Thursday about some heart related problems, he made an urgent referral to the chest pain assessment unit at my local hospital and they phoned me the next day to offer me an appointment on Monday morning. ....
Robbie. Whoa. I am so glad that you were so readily evaluated and treated. Perhaps, these circumstances explain the fatigue you experienced while walking to your mother’s house after you had COVID; it’s normal to be very tired post COVID but your heart may have exasperated the fatigue.
Lifting prayers and sending good thoughts your way for a speedy recovery.
