When we reach the point where realise that no, we cannot drink on just the weekend, grandmothers birthday , or swap spirits for beer, we are on our way to recovery. The recovery you want so dearly.

That is almost certainly a given. Almost all newcomers share so many common issues that it's often a surprise to hear them. That was one of my big surprises at my first AA meeting. I knew right away that I was not alone in dealing with this thing, but there were old timers there, and they were the ones that showed me that living without alcohol for the rest of my life could be joy, rather than a sacrifice.
