Six years, 11 months sober
Six years, 11 months sober
I know, I know, I haven't reached seven years yet, but I'm optimistic that I'll make it! The official day will be February 3, 2023. For those still struggling, long term sobriety is a realistic goal!
Thanks everybody! NYE will be fine, we're going out for dinner but I'll be back by 9 or 9:30 p.m.
NYE was never really a temptation for me anyway because I considered going out for NYE to be for amateurs!

@Zencat , I'm from Seattle, but I was down the PCH from Oxnard last month for the Malibu half marathon and 5K at Zuma. It was a lot of fun and it was great scenery. 7 years ago it would have been inconceivable that I would be able to run a half marathon, let alone go to SoCal to do it! Just one of the many many benefits of sobriety!

Hey, congratulations, Out on the Tiles!
Isn't it remarkable to experience the things that become possible in recovery? Your running accomplishments are really inspirational. I've become a hiker in recovery and am constantly amazed by the difference it's helped create in my life.
PS: You always have the coolest avatars.

Thanks @Venecia I usually alternate my avatar between the Stones and the Who. I like the pic of the Who because when they finished a show even though they didn't get along with each other, they would usually stand arm in arm and thank the audience. I love the footage at the end of Kids Are Alright where Pete helps Keith jump down off his drum set and then Pete hugs him. I always feel a little weird using Who and Stones as avatars because they weren't exactly models of sobriety and I don't want to trigger people, but I think it's understandable that rock musicians shouldn't be inspirations for not drinking.
