Soberly does it. - Weekenders 23 - 26 December 2022
I'm IN!
I picked my daughter up at the airport this morning! The roads were not great, we had a pretty big storm last night. It was slow going. But we made it, she's home, and all is well.
Good to see you, Sao!

Thanks Mags. I hope the cats are more settled now. What happened to your knee? I hope you are resting it.
Nice to see you Sao.
How lovely, Marty. Enjoy!
I had to take my dad for an echo cardiogram today. Back to the hospital tomorrow because his heart monitor has been sending alerts to them indicating something is wrong. He has been extremely breathless. It is all a bit stressful.

MERRY CHRISTMAS WEEKENDERS!
I miss you all. Thanks to my friend Canadian Koala for reminding me that Xmas is a time for forgiveness. Thanks too to you Mags.
I post this song every Christmas, it's not a Christmas song but it feels like it is.

The Weekender thread without you is like a morning without orange juice
(I know, it sounds like an ad for Florida lol)
I'll use your copyrighted greeting post again :
I hope to see you again for the New Year to celebrate with you!
Thanks Mags for this new Weekenders chapter
Have a good day friends ☼
Thank you, Mags!!!! Your opening post hit home, as usual. I am copying it onto a blank page on my iPad to refer to when I feel myself wobbling.
I “gave in” recently to the temptation despite my head not wanting to do it. I was so upset with myself but I am just going to continue plowing ahead. No sense dwelling on it.
I am in for a 100% sober weekend.

Hello all- I am in and a week away from a continuous sober year. Kaily I also was caregiver to an unappreciative alcoholic mother who chain smoked herself into the hospital over and over. Taking her to the doctor or for tests was a hellish nightmare which usually involved multiple verbal kicks in the face from her to me, her favorite punching bag. Please know you aren’t alone
Great to see you Sao! I was watching a rally car special and thinking of you just yesterday. Any road trip photos or London scenes you mind sharing? I 💗 your photos— it was those that first got me reading and posting on Weekenders years ago

Thanks everyone. The hospital was ok, it turned out to be a technical fault with his heart device. They hooked him up to a machine for 10 minutes and fixed it.
I then much to his resistance insisted he saw the GP as his breathing is so bad. They were very good and saw him within an hour. Turns out he has pneumonia. He has been given steroids and antibiotics. If no improvement in a few days I need to take him to A&E.
I'm exhausted
