Anxiety tonight
True for me:
"Our anxiety does not come from thinking about the future, but from trying to control it." Kahlil Gibran
I can work myself into a terrible state of anxiety trying to ensure my desired outcome. AA has taught me to trust that my HP's plan is unfolding as it should, thus the bravest, smartest thing I can do is LET GO of my desire to bend His will to my own. Accept the truth, the unknown.
Have you heard of practicing "Radical Acceptance" when faced with an anxious situation? Tara Brach has some wonderful information on this meditative practice. Radical Acceptance - Gateway to Love, Wisdom and Peace - Tara Brach
And I love this passage from Jeremiah 17:7-8:
"Blessed is the one who trusts in the name of the Lord,
whose confidence is in him.
They will be like a tree planted by the water
That sends out its roots by the stream.
It does not fear when heat comes,
Its leaves are always green.
It has no worries in a year of drought,
and never fails to bear fruit."
-God has positioned me perfectly. I have everything that I need to not only survive, but THRIVE!
You've got this, AJ! Feel it, but there's no need to fear it!

I love this.
Early recovery is a bit of an emotional rollercoaster, AJ.
I think crying is cathartic anyway - it helps us let go of difficult hurtful situations.
you're doing great - congrats on day 6

I had a huge huge amount of anxiety when I first stopped for the first couple of weeks and it of course was not a fun place to be. I am not sure where mine was coming from, for me it was not thinking about the future, it was every little thing that made me highly nervous and edgy. Heck, when I went to local restaurant to get something at the counter I specifically remember being so incredibly nervous and was to the point of shaking when trying to put my wallet way quicky enough so the customer behind me could place his order. The nice person behind the counter said, take your time hun nobody is in a hurry. She must have seen I was so out of sorts.

On no I'm sorry! Sending you big hugs. If its any consolation, at about 5 days I had a terrible similar day, it was unreal I thought i was going crazy. Such strong sadness and depression! And then the next day was a little better. And the day after a little more. And now I feel like a million a bucks AND I can so vividly remember those terrible withdrawal symptopms (stupid alcohol) that it really shuts up my cravings quicks. Dont want that again!
Youre amazing to post, thank you! Hopefully your morning got better.

Good job on getting through Day 6, AJ. You will be able to manage the emotions as you get used to it. The first few weeks can be quite a learning experience. I hope you feel better tomorrow.
