Thanks Dee..

3 things I will look forward too.
Not sweating all through the night every night.
Sleeping better and all through the night.
Waking up sober.
These 3 things are the best things about sobriety for me in the beginning..

I have no energy today. A maintenance person came today. She got down on the ground and played with my dogs. They loved the attention. I felt so guilty. I’m just not happy right now. But that’s okay. It takes time for your mind to get into “sober” mode. I am trying to smile to help my mood.

Going to sleep sober, I'm so happy that I managed to stay sober tonight..
I got a new audiobook by Jordon Peterson, who seems to be a bit controversial but that's right up my ally, so I'll put that on for a listen to fall asleep too.

Hi all. Day 7 here. Yesterday was kind of strange. Felt fine in the morning, but as the afternoon wore on and the night came on, the bad stuff from the day before started coming back. Feel good again this morning. Going to see my cardiologist today. Have gotten good reports from all my specialists docs this week, but this is the big one. One thing that I'm keeping in mind. In the past, after I got through a good cardiologist visit, it always seemed like a good time to celebrate the good news. Not a chance this time. Still feeling the effects that have been with me the last several days. Hopefully it will be good news again and I will want to capitalize instead of trying to throw it away. One day, the news won't be good.

Hi Red. PL, I like your snoopy pic.

Pledging for today. Day 61.

Bobdrop wishing you a good checkup at the cardiologist. I can relate to the celebration of past good health checks. I did the same until my last that showed elevated liver levels. The celebration time is over. I have to treat the body better before it rebels completely.

Meshelly - Welcome aboard! I'm glad you're here.
Samwitch - Hey!
Bobdrop - Good luck today. Well done staying sober even when you are feeling like crap. You got this.
Peke - Great job on day 12! Good luck to you too. I hope you get some answers about your pain today.
Red78 - Welcome back! You have been missed! I missed your flowers.
Dee - Hey!
RunnerF - Have a great day!

54 days. Last night my work had an event that involved drinking. Watching people drink too much made me wonder why it ever seemed inviting. But I know there was a time I would have been right in the middle of it. Glad that time is not now. Those situations don't bother me. When I am alone is when the drinking thoughts pop up. Not so much recently though. I'll take that as progress.
"I thought getting sober was just the end of drinking, but it was actually the beginning of a new life."

Good morning all. Happy Friday!

Bob - I hope the checkup goes well! PL - I hope the quad feels better! Congrats on day 1 Red! That is always the hardest day IMO. Welcome to the group Meshelley!

Day 8 here. I am finally starting to feel a little better mentally and physically - not coincidentally, I had my best nights sleep in 2 weeks last night. I don’t know about you all, but when I’m drinking, my blood pressure is slightly elevated out of the normal range. Just took it this morning and it’s back in the normal range. It’s just crazy how alcohol really does impact all of your body’s systems.

No big plans for me today. Going to get through the work day, watch a movie on Disney+ with the family, hit an online meeting and watch White Lotus and then off to sleep (sober sleep ).

Hope you all have a great day

Welcome. December class!

you CAN do this, you’re not going to miss ANYTHING about your toxic relationship with alcohol.

ODAAT, sometimes one minute at a time.

Cry, sleep, lay around, eat candy, ice cream, nutritious food, ANYTHING but drink.

Happy Friday my SR friends!

My AV was yelling at me last night.. But I read my book in bed with the dogs. I feel so good this morning, my abdomen aches. But mentally I’m feeling great!! (Btw the book is How to Find Your Way in the Dark. It’s really good).

I hope that you all are okay…

Hi all. Thanks for the positive wishes. The appointment went well. The real stuff will get revealed in a couple of weeks when I go in for an echo. Got put on some new meds. These will now make 3 that I have that are very expensive if you don't have insurance that covers them. Thankfully I do. When I retired, I groaned about how much it was to keep the good insurance that we had. I guess that it is paying off now.
Runner-It's good to know I wasn't the only one that thought about drinking after good doctor visits. Well, I have 2 weeks of motivation before my echo. After that, it will be 8 months before my next cardio visit. I will be strong.

Bobdrop glad to hear about the positive visit. Stay strong and just focus on not drinking “now”. Enjoy the weekend.

Congrats to everybody getting sober or staying sober.

Just rolling along day by day. Peke I'm a big advocate of smiling therapy. I like watching funny stuff on the interweb. Old cartoons are a favorite of mine. Godzilla movies, the early ones crack me up. Anime is cool for sure. There is much joy to be found if your looking in the right place.

If you force yourself to smile, no matter how bad you feel, something changes, and you feel better. I don't know if it is chemical, but it is magic. ❤️

I just had a horrendous morning, tantrums and tears. And I am forcing myself to smile, and oh, how it works—feeling better, even though I wasn't planning to. LOL.

It is lovely to see you back, dearest Red. s ❤️

And Zen—I really need to move to Cali. I want to, but unfortunately, my husband does not.

I was going to stop drinking January 1, but now I don’t know why I was waiting. I’m stopping now. Today seems to be a good time to stop.

Hi Sober54. Sounds like a great idea. I have done this myself many, many times. I pick out a date where I want to stop drinking. Then I drink as much as I could in the days before, justifying it with the thought that I'm about to quit. Now is a great time to quit. Wouldn't it be great to have a sober Christmas. If you stop now, you can celebrate New Years with almost a whole month of sobriety.

Good morning all. Day 8. Looking forward to a day of watching sports and putting up more Christmas decorations. Tomorrow, my wife and I will be playing in handbell choir at church. Then home for more of the same as today. I hope everyone else has good plans for their weekend.
I continue to feel a little better each day. In the past, it has taken up to a couple weeks to be past the physical discomforts. Hope everyone else is doing great.
