I'm Back

I'm back.
I put a ******* vodka bottle in the washing machine and it gave up the ruse since I've been hiding my drinking from my dad.
I'm not sick physically since I've only been drinking on the weekends and slowing down so I don't go overboard.
But I am depressed and ashamed about it.

It's just really bad for my mental and physical health to drink the way I do.

Alcohol has never actually done anything for me.
Other than make me sick and stupid.
If I keep drinking, it could certainly make me homeless, sick, and stupid though.

AA meeting tomorrow evening after work.
I'm not quite sober yet (last drink was 6 hours ago) so I can't go tonight.

That seemed to work for you, yeah.
Building a long term recovery is the thing…but the start is more important right now.

Sure you can. We have had folks chug a beer in the parking lot before they walked in. Whatever it takes to get you there. You are welcome.

back TWTOM. AA and SR will make a solid recovery plan of action.
Here's a welcome chip. Use the 24-hour plan.

I don't drink and drive.
I also don't have any alcohol or want any tonight.
In fact, I freaking hate alcohol with every ounce of my being right now.

Winning!! Good idea.

I have heard some folks (often old timers with many years of sobriety) put down online (Zoom) AA meetings. They are not fans of this forum either. You know that electronical stuff. To them the only meeting is a FTF meeting.
Whatever. Maybe they need to go to Blockbuster and rent a VHS video today.

^^ Online seems to be the way forward. I teach some kids online, and in the past when one or two felt anxious, they can switch the cameras off. A lot of negatives about online, but a lot of plusses too. TWTOM was able to find a meeting online, so that’s another bonus.

TWTOM, “just drinking” at the weekend has to stop. You know that. None of us here could do that. It’s an addiction which we can’t dip in and out of. I’m upset as I thought you were doing very well previously. Something needs to change. What’s going on that you needed to drink?

I know. It starts spilling over rapidly. It's exhausting just trying to control it. There's no really an explanation. I'm either a drunk or I'm in recovery.

Same.

Glad you found an online mtg. I hope your mtg tonight is a good one. Although, in my experience, even bad mtgs are good ones.
