I am so sad. My ex's dad passed away this morning. He was 80, but in really good health. My ex and I divorced in the late 80's, but we remained close friends. I would always go to her family parties and was treated like family. I told my ex to contact me if she needs anything at all, even if to just talk. The circle of life.
I'm sorry for your loss RunningScared.
Glad you heard from your friend itsmaria
Alpine - all any of us do is give our free time here - sometimes that's a lot, and sometimes not.
You have a lot of stuff going on right now - don't exhaust yourself, especially not just for our benefit,ok?

Alpine, I agree with Dee. Take care of yourself and don’t stretch yourself too much love. Remember to breathe.
I had to think what day it is for a minute. Sunday morning. All is quiet so far. I’ve noticed since getting sober as the sober time builds up I’m more relaxed with stuff, well most stuff. Moving house is getting me a bit tetchy now and again but all in all I’m calmer.
When I drank I knew every minute of every day, unless I was passed out drunk! Planning my next drinks or wasted because of them. Someone posted about a vicious cycle. That’s just what I was in. My mind worked overtime so I could reach my goal…to drink.
I’m glad I’m not doing that anymore, it was exhausting when I look back.
Life may be steadier for me, that’s my choice, but being sober I can live life on my terms, not my addiction.
If you’re thinking you’ve had enough of drink and the effects of it, you’ve come to the right place. You can stop. Many of us here are testament to that.
It starts with Day 1.

Mr. A and I dropped of my FIL's clothes at the funeral home and confirmed the dates and times for the viewing, the service and the get together afterwards. Mr. A called his sister, who probably won't be here for it and I helped my MIL make contacts with her friends and kept track of who still needed to be notified. We then headed back out to re-look (if that is even a word) at a house and we are are to look at 2 today..one of which we already looked at. I will probably have to go help my Mom tomorrow with a few things. Yesterday was so nice out that I spent sometime doing some fall cleanup in the yard.

Hey RunningScared sorry for your loss. Hopefully you and your ex can provide some support to one another.
Well a nice sober weekend. I just finished a bathroom reno and I'm trying to clean and put my life back together. I have a small place so needless to say the construction dust (the reno was a complete gut and redo) got EVERYWHERE.
Like seriously awful lol. Cleaned all day yesterday or so it felt like and still not done.
But getting there.
I'm exhausted but feels good to be getting everything back in place.

Good morning Weekenders. It’s unusually quiet on the thread since last night. I hope it is because everyone is having a marvelous Monday.
Mags, I have lost track and am not sure whether you and Mr Mags have already moved into your new home, or are still preparing for the move.
My wife’s cousin and his wife who live in the country stayed over last night. Off they went to the maternity ward this morning and I just received a pic of their baby boy who was born a few hours ago.

CaptainHaddock, how lovely. Congratulations on the new addition to your family. ❤️
We haven’t moved yet. We’re getting the new place painted and any repairs. The old asthma doesn’t like fresh paint so it’s an ideal opportunity to get it done(well, Mr. Mags and a friend) before we move. I’m doing the fun stuff of choosing a paint colour for the bedroom walls and living room.
I think the biggest concern for me is getting me and my cats in there and getting them to feel at home. That’s going to be in a few weeks yet.
The neighbours seem very nice. The ones round us have lived there over forty years so it’s new for them having us as neighbours.
Hope everyone is doing ok. I miss not seeing some of the regulars here but hope they’re all ok too. Shout out if you want to.
