Waking up to Sobriety- Weekenders 26 - 29 August 2022
Good morning all. Hope you are all well and enjoy your holiday in the UK.
Dolphins do come into the harbour occasionally Mags but not very often. It is exciting when they do. Most of the whale watching trips are further west haven't done one yet. My best memory is out on my dads trawler as a kid seeing Basking sharks slowly swimming with their mouths wide open they were as big as the boat.🙂.

Lovely pictures AL, looks like a great day.
Hope things go well at the hospital HTBH
Robbie, my friends house had that hot air heating. I remember that it always made my hair go static.
Taking my Dad shopping today and bringing his washing home to wash.
Little Daisy swimming. When I got her she was terrified of everything including water and wouldn't even walk through a puddle. She is a such brave girl now, sometimes too brave and struts up to big dogs growling. Little madam!
Just shows what love, guidance and security can do .

Morning all, happy August Bank Holiday to whom it applies.
Great pics AL48 and yours of Daisy swimming Kaily.
Welcome to Weekenders Khorhey!
Good luck this week Happytobehere.
I had a late night seeing family but had to get up early to move my car. My street is already temporarily blocked off at one end for construction work and the police had blocked the other end for some sort of 'incident' It is open again at one end this morning.

A few weeks ago someone posted on the nextdoor app that they had lost their cat. Someone kindly informed them that they had seen a cat matching the description sadly dead at the side of the road. The owner then posted an update that she had collected and cremated her deceased cat.
Then yesterday she posted this .
A month ago I posted that our cat, Biscuit, was missing and then that we had found her run over. Miraculously she is back from the dead! She turned up a few days ago, very thin but otherwise okay. After two visits to the vet she is now fine and eating well. The cat we mistook for Biscuit had exactly the same markings but was covered in flies and missing an eye so we didn’t look too closely at the face to know it wasn’t Biscuit. We are overjoyed to have her back and so is her brother, Buckle. (And we had the cat we thought was Biscuit cremated and buried in our garden, so it had a dignified end.)

Finally got some sleep last night. Woke up in terrible pain. I asked the doctor at the urgent care clinic if they could call me in a scrip for pain pills and muscle relaxers. Then I thought I might as well go in and be seen. The appt is at 1:30. I hope the doctor will call in those scrips.
PJ, I’m so sorry for the ongoing anxiety and depression. I’m so glad you have Roxy.
Cold winters in Michigan in U.S., we had ice in the toilet bowl. Stove pipe heater in the house my grandpa built as a barn in the 1920s depression, heated with oil. He quickly decided that barn had to be the house, and there would be no barn.
I think there are bad times a coming for many, and for many, these will make us more creative, more conservative in our usage of fuels, and to make sure the difference between what we WANT and what we NEED.
Mags, for us in the new house build, we are NOT getting solar. Very toxic for the world to build those panels, and they take 20 years to begin to pay off. And then, you but those in the landfill, and need to buy more. Sounds like a familiar merry go round scenario I used to ride. (Drink, pseudo quiT, drink, etc.).
Manta?
How are you, love?

Hi friends,
We've had a sunny long weekend here without the usual August Bank Holiday rain. I took a train trip on Saturday and my attention turned to a the chaps a couple of seats behind me. "I'm working slowly through Step Three" one of them said. It turns out they were spending their holiday weekend touring meetings on the South Coast, some of which sounded really good. I half wondered whether I could stay on the train and join them!
Yes, we have a cold and expensive winter ahead here but my small flat should warm up quickly and (relatively) economically when needed. Sorry to hear of your continuing ailments Least, thoughts to you PJ and any others here in need.
Time to get an early night so I can be up early for work. Goodnight! Forwards.

The pain is so bad I called urgent care and asked if the doctor had called in any scrips for me. They said he had and it would be ready in an hour. Son in law is going to pick it up.
I am really mad. The "prescription" he called in was for extra strength Tylenol, which is an OTC med. I understand the dangers of opiates but damn, the doctor just sentenced me to live with this.
Sorry you are dealing with that least. I went through something very similar when I was going through my health crisis earlier this year. Doctors are understandably hesitant with prescription pain meds but I know as well as anyone that once pain reaches a certain level, OTC meds just don't cut it. I hope you get relief soon. Hang in there.
If people REALLY saw things straight, as a nurse, ALCOHOL is very problematic world wide, way more than opiates —alcohol causing much more disease, death and ruin.
Im so sorry least. I agree, ED visit.
