FOMO at Weekends? Weekenders 19 - 22 August 2022
Kaily, that sounds like a very traumatic dream. I hope you have shaken it off. Was it something you ate before bed perhaps?
Athens, I hope the new position works out great. Alcohol has nothing for us now. The gig is up so to speak.
Al, I hope it goes well with the estudiante de espanol. My brother was an exchange student and went to Venezuela for the summer, then a Venezuelan kid came to stay with us for a while. My brother is still friends with some of them I think all these years later.

Hi all,
Chancellor stick around! This thread has got me through many a weekend! Glad you are here. Kaily I'm sorry you had to go through that dream. I have had some pretty weirdo sobriety dreams. Even the ones that aren't disturbing can sometimes be exhausting. Thanks for sharing the hilarious sign!
This weekend Mr. Happy decided to buy some beer (yes he still drinks sometimes on weekends but never has had as much as I used to). On the plus side, I don't like beer and it strangely doesn't tempt me even when I am having a craving, thank goodness. On the negative side, the "FOMO" pops up because we used to drink and watch a Saturday night movie together. Ironically, as I write this, I am remembering that I JUST wrote on another thread that I probably have hundreds of movies that I can't remember the end of from my drinking days. So, if I reframe my thinking, I can look forward to seeing a movie and actually remembering the end of it! How about that. Either way, today I will not drink, FOMO or not.
Gratitude: it is a much cooler (80s F) day here, down from the 100+ we endured several days ago. Happy Saturday all.

Evening dear Weekenders,
Yes, FOMO has been replaced by JOMO over time - thank you Mags for the thread.
What cost those missing years though. At around 3 + 3/4 years into recovery I have sobered up to find myself a decade or more behind my peers. I was chatting to a new acquaintance my age yesterday and she casually dropped into conversation that her youngest child was 17 years old. Maybe one day I'll have a kid - but I mean, really, am I that far behind?
Still, ruing the lost years isn't going to do any good. I have catching up to do. Gratitude, gratitude, gratitude...
All the best as always. Forwards.

Good Morning Weekenders
least rest easy.
Sunday morning here around 5.30 ish. Thinking of FOMO. I remember when I had my first sober New Year’s Day. No hangover, it was brilliant. I went to the supermarket when it opened. Not because I wanted anything but just because I could! ….It was so quiet. I didn’t feel I’d missed out on anything. It was a good feeling.
Love to all Weekenders and guests xxxx

Good morning Mags.
Had a Sunday lie in 6.50am😅. In my youth I'd only be getting home at this time and sleep all day until 4.00 pm when the pub would open after closing for 2 hours on Sunday at 2pm. That was a thing back then.
Even with drizzle and grey skies this morning my wife and i are going to the harbour. We will kayak for a few hours and im looking so forward to it, coffee afterwards and may be a cake.
Enjoy your Sunday all.

Morning Weekenders, good luck with the new job AthensDawg!
Good to see you Chancellor.
Enjoy your kayaking AL48.
No lie in for me either, I cleaned my ourside window surrounds which the window cleaner doesn't do. Tricky to reach some of 'em, i'm three floors up (that is the called the 2nd floor in Britain for some reason I've never understood)

Morning all .
AL enjoy your kayaking. It seems to be a very popular pastime, I have seen many people mention it on these forums. Not sure if it is less popular in UK or if I just don't know about it.
More dreams last night, not as traumatic as the previous night but still not good.
Did a long hard walk yesterday to try and settle myself and my mind. My psychologist said I am over walking and need to pace myself better as I often walk to exhaustion then feel unwell for days. I think maybe the dogs agree
Anyway of out walking again else I will go mad.
