Sick
So in the past being Ill has brought me unstuck. I can't let it this time. Hopefully being aware that I am vulnerable to the idea of a drink in these times is enough for me to get well sober.
Focus on doing healthy things to get yourself better- drinking fluids that do not contain alcohol, eating things that won't upset your stomach, getting plenty of rest, hot shower, whatever you need. Stay here and post, someone is always around to interact, and just do not drink. Don't ruin all your forward momentum. You know this is a risky time, but now you've said it out loud, so you are in charge.
Feel better!! Great job coming here and posting.

You’ll regain strength SO much faster if you don’t drink while you are ill!
Let your immune system do its job unencumbered by poison!
Rest, read, take a warm bath, have some herbal tea, and get some sunshine. That’s the road to health. You can do it!

I have become a tea fan since not drinking
During the first several months and few years, I drank and ate everything except booze. I found that I felt much better when I ate healthy, but I denied myself nothing.
Giving up booze forever and ever was the hardest thing I have ever done. It was also the best thing I have ever done.
I still crave, but I know better.
I stay clean by any means.
These days I have evolved into eliminating most sugar (high fructose and granulated). This has increased my my mental strength and well as my immune system.
I don't recommend quitting sugar to a newly clean addict. My mind craved the sugar. It seemed to trick it. But, the trick didn't last that long. I was constantly eating sugar.
My wife pushes my buttons the worst out of anyone/thing and that seems to make me want to relapse the most.
But, I quit for me. I am not going to relapse for anyone.
My health is the most important thing.
Thanks.

I often found that when I am sick in sobriety, I recovered faster than when drinking. I’m glad you are on the mend. I’ve also had been sick and to the ER twice in recovery I would’ve thought was hang over stuff if I was drinking. In one case I had to be on intravenous medicine for a very bad gut infection for 4 days in hospital. Had I’d been drinking, I wouldn’t have recognized my infection, as my symptoms was a strange weakness and a stomach ache . I know I would’ve disregarded both as booze symptoms and not seen a Dr.
