Blessings in Sobriety
This week I had the opportunity to travel with my family to the mountains of Colorado to meet up with some friends. We came together to celebrate a spiritual milestone for one of my husband’s student athletes (he’s a college soccer coach).
It was incredibly moving to be a part of her ceremony. Her family was lovely, warm, and welcoming. They know about my addiction and recovery, so I initially hesitated to come along due to concerns that it would be awkward for everyone. But it wasn’t! My children, husband, and I had the BEST time playing outside with everyone!
We swam and dove and kayaked in a pristine mountain lake. We hiked and climbed through gorgeous rocky forests and played something called “Archery Tag” that left my forearm bruised from elbow to wrist and my core sore from laughing.
What a blessing! My body and soul feel refreshed. It is so great to be SEEN, FORGIVEN, EMBRACED, and INCLUDED.
I’m currently working on Step 8, and, though it sucks to see a list of people I’ve hurt, it’s a lot easier to imagine those people forgiving me now that I’ve forgiven myself a bit. It’s so wonderful to see other people view me as whole!
Feeling great! So grateful for my AA group, my step work, and this board. Closing in on 5 months of change for the better!
Thanks all!
