Listen to music, sun tan, bake, walk.
usually I go to work, go to the gym, eat dinner, make my lunch for the next day and then PASS RIGHT OUT (no alcohol needed, I'm usually out of the house for 11hrs a day).

I'd like to thank everyone for the replies as what to do instead of drinking. I didn't respond as ironically I've been back drinking. I'm not happy about it. I'm still drinking so I won't stay on too long. There's a lot of great suggestions there and I thank you all.
I need to change my very nature, and one thing mentioned that seems to go against my nature is volunteering; so I think that that's something I should look into. Volunteering - actually doing things for others - might lead to some kind of fundamental, personal change.
Isn't that the sort of thing you say when you're drinking though? Tomorrow I'll wake up and I'll feel like crap again.

Volunteering really did great things for me. It reminded me that as a human being I need connection, and purpose. It also got me out of thinking constantly about myself… if only for a few hours initially, that fundamental change you speak of did occur.

I had to stop drinking first tho, and I thin’ that’s your major problem, not how to fill in free time.

What are you doing about that sharkattack?
If you’ve convinced yourself you shouldn’t post here when drinking (I disagree btw) what else are you doing to stop?

AA or some other meeting based method, a book led method like Rational Recovery, or counselling, or seeing your Dr.?

There’s a wide variety of approaches. Pick one and see where it leads, man.
