Once a week binge

Hey to all of you,
Im not new here, i just saw that i registered here in 2014 or 16. I'd like to see my old posts but i cant, its only 10 through years haha but i would like to see what i was writng few years before. My problem is still the same, but its getting worse. Im pretty drunk right now, i smashed 2 bottles of wine and few beers but i cant go to sleep till i blackout...its 6 am here and im waiting for bars to open at 8.
I didnt drink for 5 days but when i start i cant stop, I always get in trouble while doing this and im sick of it. After this i always tell to myself i wont drink for a month but after 4-5 days cravings are too much and i fail and it is goning for years. The worst thing is that i barely remember anything. Im in my late 30s.
Just want to know if anyone had similar problem?
I want to be sober but i cant...sorry for my bad english, im from Europe.
Good luck to you all good people...wish me luck because ill need it today.

If you click your name 'find more posts by zzzzzzzz' will be one of the options

I'm willing to bet most people will be able to identify with your story. I used to only drink once a week too but it didn't stay that way.

Its good you remembered SR and came back- the only thing better would be to not go to that bar today and keep posting here instead.

If that's not your choice today, it is what it is.
Come back tomorrow

We can help you make today be the end of one thing, and the start of another

D

You can stop drinking zzzzzzzzzzz. You just don't know, or believe it yet.

Keep coming here to talk about it no matter if you're drinking now, or not.

Your english is fine.

We all can stop for maybe a day, 2, a week, 10 days,
15 or more. That's not a problem. The problem is staying
stopped which is the hardest thing for any alcoholic or
someone with an addiction to a toxic substance to do.

With so many failed attempts to add up some sober
time, vowing to never drink again, calling us liars,
weaklings, sick, we pick up right where we started
from.

Except now, that monster alcohol has returned with
vengeance. More powerful than before. It's strength
and determination to destroy us is relentless.

There are many options available to us now that we
can replace our addiction for it which in the long run
will be heathier for us.

Coming here to SR and reading how folks get and
remain sober is one way or get ones self in a rehab
facility to be taught about our addiction and a recovery
program to help guide you each day sober for yrs to
come.

Councilor are available, therapists or surrounding ourselves
with others sitting and listening to them share about their lives
before, during and after their addiction providing support to
all those wanting to achieve continuous sobriety.

There is more than one method to getting and staying sober.

With willingness, openmindedness and honesty, we all
can find what we are looking for, and we never have to
be alone in doing so.

Grab ahold of someones coat tail and hang on tight as
they guide you along, showing you how it can be done
so that you never have to pick up alcohol or drugs again.

Your journey into recovery begins right here, right now
with support, care, understanding from many just like
you, me or us.

Hi zzzzzzzzz, I think alot of us if not most, myself included, have/had a similar problem. If you read around a bit I'm sure you'll find a lot you can identify with.
As has been said, it's staying stopped that is the difficult part. Hope to see you around, I'm sure you can do this.
By the way, your English is very good

Hi zzzzz,

It’s a tough pattern, but you can break it.

I found that trying to not drink for a certain period was hard to do, because the knowledge they I would start again at some point made me think “what the hell, might as well start now).

Have you considered trying to stop for good? I think it’s the only way for us alcoholics.

I’ve been there too zzzzzzz so it is possible to stop….it usually doesn’t happen overnight so try to not get discouraged ….stay close to SR and keep reading/posting.

What also helped me was The Alcohol Experiment by Annie Grace….based on her book “This Naked Mind” it’s a 30 day online challenge to refrain from alcohol with daily lessons, videos, etc. so there’s something different to look forward to each day. It’s been a while since I’ve done it, but it was free at the time for the first 30 days….I think it may still be. Hope U r doing ok

You sound more like a daily drinker than a binge drinker, but a daily drinker that manages to fight off cravings for 4 days until you cave. As for staying sober for 4 days, that is not helpful or even a step in the right direction. Four days doesn't even come close to breaking the addiction cycle. But I think what you are or what I'm guessing you are is irrelevant. You have described the problem, and very clearly, I might add. What you must do next is describe the solution.

Describing the solution requires some thought about planning, including, but not limited to, what are you going to do to manage day 5 and week 5? Maybe you have done that. There's just no indication that you have in your opening post. But planning is essential in the solution.

I'm glad you posted, z.
I was the same - once it was in my system there was no telling where or when it would end. I got in deep trouble, caused chaos, put myself in danger. I went on like that for years, always trying to control what I drank so I could pretend to be a social drinker. It wasn't possible. I am so thankful to finally be free of it.
You can do it too!

I was the same zzzzz. It was so hard for me to stop drinking once I had started. We do understand how hard this is and I hope you know that you will be able to get sober and recover.
