I went to the Er last night. They gave me some Ativan for panic attack.

I am feeling very sick because I had switched from beer to whisky..

Also feeling very alone

Hey Lila,

Really happy to hear you went to the ER and are on day 1. The sickness should pass with more alcohol free time. You've taken a great step and you are certainly not alone everyone here supports and is with you. Stay close to SR and post as often as you can it's an invaluable tool.

Like others have said try to stay close to SR. I felt pretty darn sick too when I first stopped. It will get better, just try to push through it. You Can do it.

Eat something and try to get some water down. Things will get better but it may take a few days to recover and get normal sleep pattern going.

I've been to the ER on multiple occasions for withdrawals. A few Ativans and an IV is enough for me not to desperately seek alcohol the next day.

Dear Lila, you mentioned the nice lady from your church group trying to help, and that you did not think they understand:

While these nice ladies may, or may not, have shared your exact experiences, they will have wisdom, especially if they are older; and they will want to be kind and to do what they can.

I wonder if you might accept their real-life compassion and kindness just as it comes; they and we here can all be part of your support-team.

Kindest thoughts to you on this journey to health.

I too am glad you sought help.

You've got to break the alcoholic cycle. It's gonna be rough but I know you want to do it and I know you can do it.
Keep posting. Reading. Anything but drink and drugging.

It WILL get Better

Lila, an ER can help you with withdrawals. You don't need to keep drinking. Stay safe.

I agree with Anna—this will be an endless cycle if you don’t get support and get clear of the booze altogether, and work with a doctor on a gradual benzo reduction.

It can be done, and you can get your life back.
It will hugely help with the depression—
