Trying again
Hi all. I am an addict that has been using on and off for nearly ten years. I was able to kick the habit completely about two years ago and stayed sober about 8-9 months. I LOVED it! Although my life was in repair mode I haven’t felt that good in a long time. I was working out again, eating healthier and able to attain some jobs and other things. Stupidly I relapsed and continued to use for nearly a year now.
I have been trying to stop and can never get through the 4/5 day marks. I’ve used once a week for the past 6 weeks and have had brutal days in between. I’m going to try again starting tomorrow with nothing and just wanted a place to have some people to talk to during the process hoping it will help me get past the initial phase. One week is all I need and I feel like I will be able to function and get by. This is my last chance for a number of reasons and I’m a little scared I will fail again. Any words of encouragement or ways to ease the withdrawals would be greatly appreciated!
thank you everyone

Hi, James-
Welcome to SR. This is a great place to help you through the first days and all the rest. Good for you having some sober time in the past- so you know how great it can be! Stay close, read as much as you can and post any time you have a question or a craving. This place helped me and lots of people do exactly what you are looking for. Glad you joined us!

Hey James welcome aboard. This place is awesome.
You can get back to that good place you were in. Withdrawal sucks but just keep telling yourself that IT WILL PASS and IT WILL GET BETTER.
You can do it mate, good luck 👍🏻

It's great to have you with us, James. I'd been drinking for decades when I found SR. It felt wonderful to know I was no longer alone.
You can definitely reclaim your life - & you never have to return to that miserable place.
