Relapse
I'm sorry prettiekittie. It's happened to me, as well.
You HAVE got something prettiekittie. You've got sobriety on your mind. And you're going to do it!
All you've got to do today is not drink, and tend to your injuries. Rest. Drink water, and be comfy.
It will get better. You know it always does without the booze. And I know it's not easy.
Big hugs prettiekittie.

What Steely said.
you CAN do it, you know you need to, and most importantly you WANT to.
Your current state is screaming for survival.
Choose life.
Rehab?
AA?
SMART?

You CAN change your brain.
Our brain can control our life, and our life can control our brain.
Live the sober life, and your brain will accept it. ❤️🤓

I've done that to myself as a drinker too PK. I'm sorry to hear you're in pain.
There's no really easy way around it - you have to stop drinking.
Use whatever you are prepared to use - this website,. AA or some other meeting based approach, online or face to face...see your dr or a counsellor - maybe even consider inpatient or outpatient rehab?
I believe that we can all stop drinking and stay stopped - we just have to find the right approach and that means trying everything we can reasonably try.

Today is a new day. With this new day comes a new sense
of purpose and hope. Today, we chose to want to be sober
more than anything, because if we don't remain sober, then
we won't have things like our health, happiness and welfare.
After my 28 day rehab stay where folks knowledgeable about
addiction and recovery taught me and handed me a guideline
to live my life on once I returned home, i was determined to
forge forward in my quest to achieve what so many had before
me to stay sober each day.
I learned to find balance in recovery and my everyday life. To
take care of my family and to continue to learn how to stay sober
with all the recovery support behind me.
Being responsible for my own recovery became number one
because no one was gonna keep me sober but me. No person
place or thing was gonna make me happy unless i was true
and honest with myself and my purpose in staying sober.
In order to achieve continuous sobriety I had to squash the
idea that maybe one day I would be able to drink normally.
Normally would be to have a single drink and leave it alone.
There is no way an alcoholic can have one drink. It is not
in our makeup to do so. For an alcoholic, there will never
be enough alcohol in this world to satisfy our cravings for
it. At least that fact was and still is for me.
Alcohol is out for good and recovery is in forever.
Grab your recovery support and hold on to it firmly and
begin to learn to live your new life addiction free. Today.

You have this injury to use as traction to get sober for good.
People like us simply cannot moderate, so use this relapse as a catalyst towards your beautiful, bright, and alcohol-free future.
You get to choose your fate, not the alcohol. . .
Get your Day 1 knocked out, be kind to yourself and try some ice for the swelling.
You got this!

Oh, kittie, I get it. It's so demoralizing, isn't it? I can't even count the number of times that I've woken up kicking myself for drinking again, and the kicks got even stronger throughout the day as I bore the weight of the aftermath. Many of those times, I couldn't seem to bear it at all, so I'd just start drinking again. What a terrible vicious cycle.
You do have something, kittie. You've got yourself. You get to decide what's next for you - and I think you should do what you think is going to give you the best fighting chance, even if it scares you.
If you haven't already seen a doctor, that's probably the first order of business just to be sure there isn't anything going on in the inside of the fracture that might be of concern. And drink water, lots and lots of water.
Be kind to yourself - you deserve it.
O

O
PrettieKittie, You do have something, you have a lot. You have been in recovery and you know you can do it. You need to add something to your plan, but you know you can do it. I'm really sorry that you hurt yourself. Be kind to yourself. Take care of your injury and take care of yourself today.
I've done it too, PK. But I got something valuable out of that last binge. I was finally convinced I couldn't dare touch a drop of it. There would never be control, and every time it was in my system it led to danger & reckless behavior. I know now that I can never risk experimenting again.
You sound disgusted - and that's a good thing. This can be your last time. We know you can do it.

So sorry to hear that, PK. You are worthwhile, so do what it takes. I notice you hadn't been posting much in a long time. I have personally found that I need to remain connected to a community like SR in order to stay sober, otherwise that AV starts to creep in and eventually gets me.
You can do this - you did it before. Just add to your program.

What everyone else says is all true - you do have something - you have your own free will to stop drinking, it's something that is easier to write here than do, and yet I and many others have done it, after decades of drinking and many, many times of trying, all it takes is for you to decide to stop.
I really, really hope you do.
I really, really hope you do.
My balance was going quick. Mixed with a problem with night vision (drinking damaged) and spatial disorientation, a couple of drinks and I could barely walk at night.
It has taken the better part 7 years for things to start to feel pretty good. Yup...7 years.
Booze is a monster, but it can be escaped from. It is all mental after the initial detox.
Thanks.
