Negative or Positive thoughts this weekend. 22 - 25 April 2022 Weekenders
.
The negative self-talk preceeded Drinking. So, it stands to reason it might always be around as a mechanism to manage. I do 'OK' at doing so, but that success varies. It's easy to forget the good things going on, or assorted achievements, so I focus on turning my Thoughts to good stuff. As with Possessions or Money accumulated, or Travel Destinations bagged, the trick is to be able to say what enough is. My Kiddie Chums and I used to be totally satisfied with making a Fort out of a cast-off Fridge Box. Therein lies the trick, perhaps: dial Life down to the simple things. From that comes happiness, and less negative self-talk about what hasn't been achieved. That challenge of Acceptance is definitely easier while Sober.
Happiness Is An Inside Job
The Pic out the Kitchen Window this Morning reminds me to just saunter by. Have a Morning Munch. Enjoy the nice Temps. Don't worry. Be Happy.
Thanks, Mags...

Billy didn't eat her breakfast this morning. I'm in a lot of pain today i'm getting sick of this. My wound hurts my lower back hurts and my right hand hurts. I can't wait to move to California.
Hometime! TGIF
Sending positive vibes your way least!
Super photo MesaMan. The sunlight makes it appear she (I think it's a she) has one red and one tawny coloured ear.
It is quite windy out so you might be glad of that Parasol weight already Kaily.
I'm sticking with Scott Walker, this will be a lot more familiar. This was recorded on an old British TV show called Ready Steady Go! and the best thing about it is they are performing live.

Got my radar out for positive vibes this weekend. I'm going to look for and praise the good. Billy ate a little bit of her breakfast about an hour or so ago so at least she's eating. If I can get her to eat some more food and drink some more water and pee, I'll be satisfied.

MesaMan, what you say makes sense. My mum used to say ‘be happy with your lot’ I’m sure there were more words added on but those are the words that stick. In this world it’s easy to be led by social media and tv. It is the nitty gritty things of life that put value in our lives. Great photo.
Sao fantastic song! No one sings it better! Love it. I think I’ve still got my mum’s vinyl single record of this in the attic.
Least, take care of you and Billie. Won’t be long before you’re on your way. If you’re flying you want the wound to be healed up beforehand.

Congratulations on 160 days calmself.
You're right Mags, no one does sing it better. It was originally recorded by Frankie Valli, a great singer himself but it suited Scott/Jon Walker's deeper vocal range better I think, it is the definitive version anyhow.
Saturday morning, no hangover, no anxieties about what happened on Friday night. It is the most obvious dividend of not drinking and it will keep 'paying' for as long as you're alive. Anyone can access that with a bit of effort and planning. Have a grrrreat weekend everyone.

I didn’t realize Frank Vali sang it first. The Walker brothers definitely own it, singing wise!
I’ve just been to the shop and no hangovers or concerns I may be over the limit. A good feeling, yes!

I don't listen to much music, it triggers emotions/memories and I don't much like those.
We went for a late evening walk in the local country park yesterday. Alfie being the terrier he is went off chasing a fox. He always comes back but being as it was dusk I was a bit more concerned than I would normally be. My thoughts went to what would I do if he didn't come back and worryingly the answer was to drink. It kind of felt like the catastrophe would give me permission.
I think because I don't have any support network in real life drink still hovers in the background as an emergency support button. I need a new panic button.
They have both got new matching harnesses.

A friend of mine very recently told a story of an abusive relationship she was in. The music below was one of the things that helped her get thru the tough times, and when she finally escaped, was the first thing she played out loud in her new place. The artist of this song recently passed away, but a few years before his death, she was able to tell him in person what this song meant to her.

saoutchick, I like the penguin in your profile pic. It is a penguin right? ... with... uh, fur? Right? Actually, what the hell is it?
Anyways, speaking of penguins, Pittsburgh has secured a Stanley Cup play-off spot, most likely they'll go against the Rangers in the first round - which is not far away from home, but if (correction: when) NY lose, I just hope all hell doesn't break loose in NYC.
New Yorkers are generally alright folks, right? Never been to the US, just an impression I've got from movies, etc.

Purps, I think I know the mystery band too. I hope it goes off and you get to see them.
Least, don't worry. Billie will be waiting for you. I wish I could be at the reunion!
Thank you, Mags. You are the best!
