I am an older single female and it is HOT in Florida. I hired a lawn service! I just can't do it anymore.

Excellent choice, I'm considering a cleaner. I hate housework, and using saved money for a positive life enhancing service seems ideal.

I was thinking about doing the same. I hate housework too, especially dusting and room cleaning! The only thing is that it's not cheap to hire a cleaner. I think the going rate is something like £15 to £20 per hour with a minimum charge time of 3 hours. Maybe once a fortnight or even once a month would be more affordable and practical.

I have this nominal figure of £10 per day that I save not drinking. Realistically I spent WAY more than that, it's about the same cost here to hire a cleaner. Though I kinda intend to search the student market, most likely much more flexible about hours etc. - £15 ph cash in hand.

My first kiddo, born 2 months before my 3 year sobriety mark!!! No words for how different my life would have been if I had not stopped when I did.

I like it. I certainly get through a lot of running shoes, but I’ll never spend as much as I did on alcohol so that’s fine.

^^^MLD51, I do a weekly one-to-one yoga class. That’s £30 for 90 minutes. That’s affordable when sober.

The home projects are endless.. and travel.

Actually I never spent that much on alcohol, but the takeout and dining out that went along with it was a budget buster.

I *really* like the idea of a housekeeper, as I also hate house cleaning. So many things I'd rather be doing. So I do them, lol.. the house can wait!

For me I did that years ago Kiss! I live in Florida too and there’s nothing worse than yard work with mosquitoes and no-see-ums eating you alive!!

Not spending any extra money other than having a lot of extra savings in my bank account.

Savings and travel. It’s very nice to know if I have a vet issue with my pets, I can cover it. Even nicer if there’s an issue, I’ll be sober to handle it.

I spend it on workout classes at my local yoga studio, orange theory fitness, and Barre3. My body, mind, and soul are so much more fulfilled and I actually don’t dread exercise. I feel and appreciate the mental benefits immediately.

Staying active as I get older and don't want to commit
to a daily day at a gym or spend money there, I continue
to garden. There are lots of umbrellas spread through
out my backyard to provide shade from the harmful sun
and lots of daily exercise to keep me healthy, happy and
most of all, sober.

Nothing like visiting all the garden centers to be surrounded
by many lovely flowers and bring some home to brighten up
our own garden of paradise that always delivers enjoyment
and serenity.

Gardening in recovery works well for me today.
