First 3 days
Hi all,
I am on day 3. I’ve struggled to control my alcohol consumption for a LONG time. When I was diagnosed with cancer almost 5 years ago I lost my mind and found comfort at the bar.
I am almost 43 and a mother to two boys who need me to be a better, sober mom. I’m excited but anxious to be taking this step.
I haven’t had a drink since 4 PM Friday. I’ll take all the well wishes, etc. I can get.

Welcome JP! It's so good to have you with us. We're a friendly & enouraging group who understands what you're going through.
I'd been drinking 30 yrs. when I finally admitted I could never be a social drinker. It was part of everything I did, so being here to talk things over really saved me. No family or friends understood what I was dealing with. It helps so much to have the input of those who have been there. Congrats on making this decision - and for your 3 days of sobriety.

JP Its a great decision you've made firstly for yourself and through this your boys will benefit having a mam that's free from all the issues alcohol brings, It certainly did for me. Congrats and good luck, keep posting and sharing.
Welcome JP
I wish you well.
You've tried the drinking method and apparently it has not worked. Glad you have decided to try the non drinking method.
From my experience it is a much better method.
Yes our children deserve our best which we cannot give when we are In active addiction. I wish I had quit while my child was young.

Welcome, JP! So glad to have you. You can do this - the first 5 days or so are the hardest, then it will get easier.
Just stay close and read other posts - lots of support here for you!

Welcome JP. Your boys will love you for this, and you will love yourself also.
I've found that whatever the circumstances, sober is better. It never fails, even if difficult at times. Besides, we like a challenge.
Lots of good people here JP. Join us in sobriety. 😎
