Hi Boggle

the best advice I can give anyone is to put the booze down. See a Dr first if you think you you need to. But put the booze down.

We are here to help in those difficult few first days

Welcome back Boggle. The only real advice I can give is to keep reading, and to keep posting. It may help you stay focussed on getting sober.

Thanks everyone, I don't intend to have a drink today, it's all this stopping and starting again that gets me, I maybe don't drink for 3 days then drink for 4,i want to drink none again, think il just have to reach in for more strength to get sober and stay that way, I'm sick to the back teeth of it to be honest.

You can reclaim your life and be happy.
I personally had to restructure my entire life. The hours I spent drinking were focused on hours of reading, posting here and overall self care. Restructure, retrain, reimagine what your life will look like. You can do this!

Welcome back, Boggle!

Glad that you are here, Boggle.

This is a safe place. No one can see you, but many of us know how you feel. It can get better!

Take care,
TC

Yup, it's all about not having that first drink Boggle. Learn from past relapses, change your plan and do whatever it takes.

Hi Boggle. I 'm so glad you're determined to stop. I had to be disgusted with myself & exhausted from trying to moderate. Sounds like you're ready to get free.
We know you can!

My body is in pain when I drink, I don't sleep, I'm crabby, and it's still a fight to stop, I got so much done today, I had the voice, but worked through, if I get past a week, maybe it won't be so hard, I'm grateful for you all and your sound advice,

The obsession to drink can feel turbocharged at this point. In the first several days, several weeks it can strike at any time and it feels like it's only going to get stronger when it's really about to get weaker. The obsession to drink is just an illusion.

Just think the drink through, one day at a time. Even half the day. How will these next 12 hours or so work out if I drink now? Not never drink, but just right now. So you may be craving hard at a given moment, it will blow over. You don't really need to drink right now. Tomorrow will come and you be sober and then deal with tomorrow then.

It's 10.12am day 2, had that voice, yes at this time, I'm just gonna get some fizzy water and try to ignore it, I'm so tired, but that's all the not sleeping, waking after, a couple hours of being unconscious,

Day 3 - so much better than Day 1. Proud of you, Boggle. You're doing this.
