Yep. It has to be more than just not drinking. It seems like a sacrifice, until you realize it's not what you think. If you don't give up the life that facilitated drinking, you probably won't quit drinking. I tried to go to bars and drink coffee. That lasted about 5 minutes. My circle of friends had to change too. It's best not to see how much you can cheat on this part of recovery. Seeing just how much you can get away with is clearly the wrong attitude, and you need to get your head right about these things.

AA calls it half measures that don't work.

I've only been here a while, lurking firstly but now posting but its very clear how much you give to the people here and how much you love it and they you.
I also cannot see how you manage to always be there to welcome/support and congratulate people all the time but you do and I too am grateful for that.

You were there as a great support but I could not quit that time. 2 years and 9 months ago I registered again, followed the path to the end with your daily support (and Venuscat). I always read your posts. So much wisdom accumulated and kindness
