Day 33 - nothing has gone according to plan !

So first of all the glorious weather came to an end and it’s raining and likely to SNOW ! … which scuppers my motivation for walks. Then I had to do some work but I feel the client is exploiting me - wants ME to write a paper for THEM to present at a prestigious international conference … um I don’t think so but didn’t feel calm enough to address this with them (yet). Then I did 15 minutes on stationary bike which I loathe but later did 20 mins yoga finishing with legs up the wall which is remarkably calming … so I haven’t really achieved much today but hey, I didn’t drink so that’s an accomplishment in my book !

Part of sobriety is learning to deal with the unexpected and the last minute change of plan! It sounds like you are doing this well Ican!

Get your gear on and get out and about in that rain/snow mix ICDT. That is always invigorating. A great perspective changer.

Fantastic job of identifying the exploitative behavior, Ican. And I know you will stand up to that.

And great at doing the exercise and yoga, for stress relief.

I love how you share all of this - your observations are so relevant.

Stay strong Ican you're doing great. Walking is my thing also and i hate missing out on it. Well done on the bike you might not like it but just shows your determination and with the yoga too. Both can only be beneficial to you.

Hang in there Ican! It gets easier the longer you stay sober.

Keep it moving forward!

It sounds to me like you have accomplished a lot, ICAN.

Exploitive behavior recognized. Check
Ride stationary bike even though you hate it. Check
Yoga. Check
Remain sober. CHECK!

All of the above is AMAZING!

What is that saying “Man plans and God laughs”??? Something like that.

Go with the flow of life; adjust your sails, when needed. Just don’t drink. Calmer seas lie ahead.

BTW, it seems to me that you are doing well despite the waves to be expected in early times.

I can relate to your situation, Ican. The early days of sobriety were tough for me at times, as I didn't have alcohol to turn to when I got triggered or situations didn't turn out as I had hoped. Exercise was a godsend and helped channel a lot of the frustration I experienced in a positive, healthy direction, much as you did today. I think of days like this where we don't drink as adding "equity" to our sobriety account, and with each passing day we do that, the value builds over time. You did good...
