Feeling like a Spring cleanse? ~ Weekenders 25-28 March 2022
As the seasons change and we step into Spring (or Autumn for some) it always feels like a clean up is needed. Out with the old and in with the new.
Spring lifts my expectations somehow and I feel I can make new changes along with the new season.
The best change I did for myself was getting sober. Yes there were a few rough months when I knuckled down and ‘weathered the storms’ but eventually the storms lifted, the sky was blue and the gardens bloomed.
Is it your time to have a ‘Spring Clean’ of you?
Have you been thinking of wanting to stop but all good intentions dissipate after that first drink?
It can be done, if you’re ready to take the first step.
I will be here along with many others, all of us ex drunks and alcoholics. We are your scouts and can tell you what is on the trail ahead so you can be ready for any obstacles. I can tell you to come on! It is rocky and slippery but if you focus on where you place each step, you will have no trouble getting to where I am on the trail.
All of us can tell you where the potholes are, bumps in the road, and the slippery places, but we can't walk your path for you. We can only take joy as you succeed, and cheer, one and all!

Thanks Mags, I'm IN for a sober weekend.
I definitely feel like a spring cleanse. It's time to throw off the cobwebs of winter and welcome to welcome spring. Along with autumn it;s my favourite time of the year. The nights are getting lighter, here in the UK (and all of Europe) the clocks go forward by one hour on Sunday morning, and the weather starts getting warmer. Plus I can start going for a nice walk on an evening.
I just can't believe that this weekend is 3 months on from Christmas. 2022 seems to be hurtling by at an even faster rate than 2021.
calmself, congratulations on Shotgun!

I'm in!
I love spring. I wish I had more time to enjoy it! It's always a very busy time of year at work. I do my actual spring cleaning at my house closer to June!
Metaphorically, it is a good time for refreshing habits and routines. I started my sobriety in December of 2014, but it was not until around this time the following spring that the fog started to lift and I started feeling some hope and serenity. I had completed much of my outpatient treatment, I was working the steps, I was finding new ways to go about life without alcohol. With warmer weather came the opportunity for me to really get out into nature and take the long walks I was craving. Being out in nature, listening to the birds and the breeze in the forest was a HUGE piece of the sobriety puzzle for me. Not sure how many miles I put on that first sober spring and summer, but it was a LOT. I was only working part time then, so I had time to fill. I still get out into the woods whenever I can, or I put my kayak on the water and go fishing. And now, I also have my sporty little convertible I can take drives in with the top down. So many ways to get out and enjoy spring!

Hi, I would like to join you all for a sober weekend. I am on another day 1. This year i have just been relapsing over and over. I am hoping to finally break the cycle. I know many of you are so awesomely long term sober. Hoping to learn from you all and follow in your footsteps. ❤
Hello Weekenders, I'm IN!
Thanks Mags for the thread. Spring has sprung here with balmy weather and a particularly good crop of daffodils. I went for a walk with housemate and dog this afternoon and it was great to get out in the fresh air. Sunshine does cheer people up no end.
Work continues constantly as always, my house move is progressing, all is good if a little stressful...
Warm wishes to all. Forwards.
