I tried so hard
Don't give up Mummy! We all slip up, the secret is to start over as quickly as you can. Keep those sober days.
I relapsed many times but I kept trying, and over time the sobriety got longer and the slips more rare.
You can do it. Never give up!

Have you started drinking again after day 1 Mt2? If so, please stop. It helps nothing.
I tried so hard too - but it wasn't until I realised I had to try my hardest when I really wanted that drink that things changed.
I had to have a strategy- or ideally several strategies- people to talk to, call or to post to - playing the tape through, urge surfing - all those things - as many different ways as I could think of taking that option of drinking completely off the table.
It was hard but I did it. You can do it too.
If what you are doing is not working, look at adding more recovery tools.

The days following a slip were always the hardest for me Mummy. Basically, I'd think, WTF, who cares, and throw caution to the wind. Angry with myself. A drink used as punishment in some bizarre ritual of self destruction. It was my style back then Mummy. And not very stylish at all.
I would have also kicked off all the neuro chemical bs that goes on in our sensitive little brains, so you've got to kick forward in those first couple of days until things settle, and they will.
Come on Mummy.

I was once in a team meeting years ago where our boss said we needed to do better next year. one guy spoke up and said we all worked as hard as we could this year. We couldn't have worked harder. The boss said it's not a case of working harder. but you can work smarter. took me a while to get what he meant but I always think of that in my recovery. If what I do isn't working I need to do something else/different
I’m new to this - 22 days clean today. Not too proud to admit that a big part of my sobriety thus far is my COMPLETE lack of access to my drug of choice.
Can you remove access to your drug? Set yourself up for success?
When I remove the possibility of use, I get ahead of the beast!

MT2,
What they all said.
It sounds corny, but each day really is a new start.
Dont say to yourself, I am going to stop, say I do not drink ever and I am never going to change my mind. And then again, and then again.
You can have this, you can, but you need to get out of your own way and stop looking back.
yea, its a bummer your drank, but it's really a bummer if you keep drinking because of that.
So you had a bit of cake, no need to have the whole thing.
