You would think after all this time taking a shot of whiskey or drinking a can of beer would be the last thing on my mind.
I have been very down lately and yesterday I had to fight off this graving of having a drink for a good hour and a half.
Damm this AV never really goes away. It just pops up. I did not have a drink because in the back of my mind I know what it would lead to. I even told myself that I could have just one or two today and never again......Yeah sure!

That AV is so sneaky, well done for fighting it off.

I do think the craving of wanting to have a drink comes and goes even with the non-alcoholic. Our culture is entrenched in alcohol and promoted to be used with just about everything.

I too have had the craving of wanting to drink at times, but a craving is not an action. Its alarming when that feeling comes. Hard to get through at times. I find the "craving" as a sign that I want to escape from whatever is happening in my life. So, I wait. I do anything and everything else.

I hope you start to feel better soon. The good thing is you used this forum as a solution. You did not drink and that is the solution. You are living in the solution.

Huge kudos for not giving in to the urge Sammy! I've been three years sober and failed at this. And that really sucked.

Stay strong. It's so worth it

I'm glad you talked yourself through it Sammy.

I'm sorry you are down but we have to find healthy strategies to deal with that.
Alcohol is definitely not the answer - it just intensifies the feeling down.
