That was close
That was close
Well I almost stopped off at the liquor store... almost... pulled into the parking lot but sat there for a minute and then left to get the kids from after school care... not sure why I got the urge when I did as I passed by a few times this week without hesitation. I guess I was subconsciously thinking about it today so when I got close the urge hit.
Glad you made it through.
Probably not as subconsciously as you think. The relapse usually happens well before the drink precisely because we are thinking about drinking. Think about what might be driving those thoughts and address them before they lead you to the bottle.
By the way, how long sober?

I did the same thing once. I was about a year sober. Pulled in but didn't get out. Sat there a few seconds and said NO as I quickly pulled out of my parking space. I was so scared I started to cry.
I'm so glad to know you resisted that powerful urge & continued on to pick up the kids.

Jryan- The sitting in the parking lot one day turned into a purchase soon after for me- leading to another year down the rabbit hole- so yes, great that you didn't go in, but be aware that even going in that lot is your AV making a strong move. Make a very solid plan to keep that from going any farther- keep going, you are doing GREAT.
