Newbie not new to trying to quit
I will say, speaking for myself but I am sure others feel the same, Thanks are not necessary.
Watching those coming here looking for help and succeeding is All the Thanks we need.
Keep up the Good Work
It gets Much Better
I hope you find this site helpful, Quitorelse. Hang out for awhile and see if there is anything here you can use, and then begin fashioning a plan to get sober. "Helpful" is the most you can expect from us. No one program, website, or guru can do this for you. I had to fumble about, listen and evaluate, and then discover my own paths and truths. Much of what I learned came in the form of surprises. Much of what I needed was not what I was even looking for. Now of course I realize it's exactly what I was looking for, but that I was looking in the wrong places a lot of the time.
Congratulations on Day one and two (and three?). If you are like the rest of us you will have to hang onto your chair and muscle your way through the cravings for a few days, which will eventually become little more than odd thoughts that farkle through your brain. After that, you will need to learn to avoid the traps your brain will create to get you back to drinking. Some of this takes a lot of work, but it is one of the most rewarding endeavors I have ever undertaken. It is life changing.

Day 3 and it is tough
Made it through day 2 and hanging on and planning on making it through day 3!
My blood pressure has dropped significantly since I stopped drinking and that is a huge relief! It was scary high. It is higher than I would like now but definitely trending down every day.
Of course the AV has already started to whisper in my ear but I am very familiar with that voice and lies it spreads.
Thanks for the support it is very much appreciated!

Congratulations on day 3 QuitorElse!! I’m glad to hear your blood pressure has slowed. Don’t give in to the AV, keep going every day you’ll feel a little better. some days you might feel a lot better and others only a small amount better, but it’s better than how you felt drinking that’s for sure!
One thing I found that helped me in the early days and still to this day was writing a letter to myself about how awful I felt and how I didn’t really want a drink and what would happen if I did. I refer to it quite often when the AV kicks up. I put it in my iPhone notes and pinned it to the top.

Actually feeling somewhat human for the first time since I quit! 🕺🏾🕺🏾🕺🏾🕺🏾👍
The AV is really busy in my ear but I am so doing my best to ignore it!

Welcome, Quitorelse, and congratulations on your progress thus far.Very glad that you have joined us.
I am very glad to see that you are already experiencing a benefit of sobriety by a reduction in your blood pressure readings. I can promise you that this is only one of a multitude of benefits that you will experience in sobriety.
Living in sobriety is exponentially better than living with active alcoholism. Stay strong; I am looking forward to seeing you enjoy sobriety as much as I do.
Hang on; the best is yet to come.
