I still remember your anxiety over meetings with supervisor in early stages of sobriety (and I guess your thesis). What a massive achievement (several of them)

Congrats kk! Very well done indeed on both the doctorate and your sober time. I'd love to have completed my own postgraduate studies - I was close to a PhD myself but life got in the way. Maybe one day...

Whatever our "normal-to-others" achievements, I think recovering addicts have a special understanding of and appreciation for the miracle of "normal". Perhaps it's because our small personal hills always seem a little higher because we started from a ditch?

That is a fantastic sober reward. I know how addiction can affect academic achievement and how liberating it is not to have that obstacle, congratulations!
