Sober 2022
This may sound a bit ambitious, but, well
Here's the deal: (Try to) stay sober for the entire next year (2022)
& Check in daily / weekly / whatever you choose. We don't judge here. Even if you lapsed. Though I prefer you wouldn't, it is indeed the start of a new beginning.
Also, some fun facts about 2022: It's the first triple digit year since 2000, followed by 1999, but before that, it was 1011.... ok maybe not so fun facts.
I'll just call it group S222, anyone in?

I am in! I will try to post as many days as I can in the format (starting Jan 1):
x days sober + y days non sober
Hopefully y is 0 on Dec 31.
In 2021, so far it is approx :
265 days sober + 100 days non sober.
This is a good idea because folks who relapsed don't need to run and hide in fear. Great!! Let's do it

Day 0 starts at Jan 1st 2022, yes. Not intended as any incentive to drink in the holidays.
#S222 - ok let's do this - together!
That is a great idea Polaroid!!!
I must point out - all in good fun - that there were a few more triple digit years after 1011 and before 1999. Specifically, 1111, 1222, 1333, 1444, etc.
But back to S222 - Fantastic idea!!! I'm in!!!

I'm in for a sober 2022.
2021 was a mixed bag. I was sober 95% of the time up until the end of March, then I began four months and a week sober, my longest streak. Then I stopped antabuse and things have been pretty rough since August with my longest streaks being about 10 days.
I don't have a choice but to be sober in 2022, or I'd be headed down a bad path. I got both arrested and hospitalised this week. I won't make it to 2023 if I don't get my act together.
It's day 3. I'm not going to drink between now and New Year's even though the AV says "Jan 1st is a fresh start, have one last hurrah".

100% agree with Kaily. There’s no middle ground with drinking unfortunately. Relapses should be treated with the seriousness they warrant. Saying that, it’s much easier to quit once you have that mindset that you can’t drink again. I could have done with a glass or red wine a few times recently. I still get mini cravings after (very nearly) three years, but I know that one glass of wine would lead to massive cravings and a likely total relapse, so I take the easy option and don’t drink.
I get nervous when I hear of people doing “dry January” or trying not to drink for X months, etc. All the good work will be for nothing if they’re yearning for a drink all that time.

Happy New Year everyone! S222 check in, day 25 AF for me
Don't know if I'm going to be busy today or just take it easy. My wife is spending January with our daughter and grandsons so I'm on my own. I do know I'm not drinking today and that feels really good. Grateful to wake up this morning not hungover, feeling better than I have in a long time, with a clear head and a lot of hope for this year.
All the best everyone. We can do this!

I hear ya on Covid not making things any easier on a lot of people. I'm hoping once this surge in cases passes and we head into warmer weather things will get much more normal again. All the best.
