In for a sober Christmas weekend!

Thanks Mags

Congratulations on shotgun least!

The last couple of hours at work were spent on a socially distanced Nerf Gun battle. That's me done at work this year more or less

Thanks Mags I am in. Grateful that this will be my second sober Christmas. I used to be hungover on Christmas morning and would use Christmas as an excuse to have a hair of the dog. Usually a bloody mary or mimosa. My children may drink some but none of them are heavy drinkers like I was. I have some sparkling cider I can have or tea. I hope everyone has a nice Holiday however and whatever you celebrate.

Andy, ah yes that makes sense for shotgun. I wonder if there’s a spare shotgun just in case… on their horse drawn coaches.

Nice song Saou. Pleased you’re winding down for Christmas.

CBS congratulations on your second sober Christmas.

Caramel, I love looking at the Christmas lights to music. It reminds me in one of the Columbo episodes a fountain going up and down to music.

Bim, cookies are good, yes, unless they were home made by me, then no.

Had a haircut today. 4 inches (10 cm) off the mop! Looking a lot tidier and ‘human’ again.

Love and hugs to all Weekenders xxxx

Thanks Mags!

Kathy was great. I loved her signature on here. Her service was very touching, as was she. RIP,🥺

My first drink Christmas I was 14. I was in foster care, and what I wanted for Christmas was my brother to come out from far away. I have A pic of us on Christmas morning, full of regret and nausea. My foster folks thought it was funny. They provided us the booze.

Probably drank every Christmas at least some if not a lot, except for Christmas 2018. This will be my 2nd in 44 years. 🎊🪅🪄🎉🎄

Also Christmas for me is/was sadness. 39 years ago tomorrow my brother shot himself in the head after talking to me long distance. Apparently he had been drinking alone on Christmas Eve, calling relatives to say goodby without saying it. My sadness is so much better than the first 10 Christmases.

There is so much to live for, and being wasted IMHO, is NOT living.

Prayers to all those struggling this holiday season. I understand. (((((((All posting members and lurkers))))))

Drinking won’t make it better, it really won’t.

So very sorry, Free.
Thank you all so much for your kindness and support. I got mom home. My computer hasn't been able to connect to the internet for a few days. I hope it doesn't happen again. We've had some storms, sometimes they cause the internet to act strangely.
I feel so much better about my situation with your kind words and wisdom. I know a lot of you have had to care for aging parents or family members and it's nice to hear how you all have dealt with it. And not take it so personally. It's really not about me, it's about them.
My mom had me order a prime rib dinner from a local store. I was just reading that you have to cook it, etc. I'm a nervous wreck having to cook something like that. I don't know how to cook very well, at least they'll have directions and my mom will help me out. If I follow a recipe that isn't too complicated, I can make some things 💗💫 I accidentally ordered it to be here by 10 am. My mom slept really well last night, for which I am thankful.
Have a great evening all. Grateful for each of you!

Free, I'm sorry your brother took that way out. A permanent solution to a temporary problem.

Aly, I would hope it would come with cooking instructions. I'm not a good cook myself.

All, good to hear from you. It’s nice your mom is home. You’ll be fine cooking the beef. If all else fails check the weight and go on the internet asking how long to cook for that weight depending on how you like it cooked, medium, rare, well done ? don’t worry…the oven does most of the work.

You have really overcome some tragedies in your life, Free. I used to work in the foster care system. Its such a heartbreaking way for a child to grow up and I'm so sorry about the loss of your brother. I know he must have been very important to you and that's a hole that can never be filled. Glad we will both be sober this Christmas!

End of day 40!! There was a steady, low buzz from AV for about an hour in the evening, probably because Thursday is one of my two drinking days per week. Ignored it and went for an evening walk in the freezing drizzle, eventually the discomfort and a bit of anxiety & mild confusion went away. Started feeling fine in a while, now slowly winding down getting ready to go to bed.

Congrats to all the milestone achievers. Good night from Seattle!

Free, sorry to read about your brother

Aly, I wouldn't have a clue either how to cook a prime rib dinner I think I'd end up overcooking it.

It's Christmas Eve here in drizzly England. I'd rather have snow but at least I'm sober and that's more important. It's much better than this time last year when I was drunk all week leading up to Christmas (including Christmas Eve) and so was ill on Christmas Day. Not this year.
