I really like that idea about the staff in the dementia ward wearing night wear at night. I imagine things like that would really make a difference Mags. It must be hard for your MIL, and also for you and your family. Sending you love ❤️

Thanks for the support everyone
Leigh I like that idea, and will add it to my sober toolbox. I will think of you all here, having sparkling water and cups of tea with me at Christmas

Thanks everyone, for all the birthday wishes! I really appreciate it. Not many people in my circle of friends and family ever remember my birthday so I’m not used to all the good wishes! It made me smile!

We had a nice brunch but decided fighting heavy traffic and looking for parking places going into the City is just too overwhelming. We almost missed our reservation because it took such a long time to find a parking garage that wasn’t full.

All in all it was a very low key day, just how husband and I like them.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

LHW

NK is here taking Billie out. I have a card for him with a Christmas bonus in it. I know that will make his day. I am so grateful for his help and good manners. Really a nice kid.

Hiya Weekenders

Thanks Willow, it’s a terrible disease but hopefully, the researchers will find a cure one day. 🙏

I’m planning on going to Marks & Spencer’s for a few bits for Christmas early this morning. I see they open at 6 am and hopefully not many will have the same idea as me. Though I could put it off like I seem to be doing nowadays. My ‘get up and go’ needs a good kick in the derrière.

See you later.

Yes dementia is a heartbreaking disease. I have mentioned it before that I looked after a man with the advanced disease, it was so sad. Like your MIL Mags he could not cope with any change at all in the house. Christmas/Birthday cards would always be put in the bin, oven, microwave, or washing machine depending on how confused he was.

I am having bedroom carpets fitted today. I got a call last night to say that there is only one fitter coming. I have paid extra to have the furniture moved so I don't know how this is going to work. I won't be happy if I make my hip worse helping.

Walk was nice but foggy yesterday.

Morning Weekenders, Good luck Kaily your dad would have been proud of me yesterday, I bought a clearly mis-priced suede jacket for £16.99. I almost ran out of the store the second the card machine said 'accepted' before someone realised.

Well done Sao! What my Dad would do now is take it back (without receipt) insisting on a full refund of the correct price.

So nice of you to do that least! I used to have a kid in my old neighborhood who helped me out like that. He was always thrilled to get an extra “tip” when I paid him. Makes ya feel good, too.

Kaily, I hope you don’t need to move furniture with the carpet fitter. Careful of hurting your hip. Did your dad get full price if he took back item at a lower price, from the shop?

Saou, A bargain before the sales start.

I went to shop…got there around 7.30 am, it was sooo quiet. Then later I took Christmas cards and gifts to two of my friends, one I used to work with for many years and we still keep in contact and the other, a neighbour who has since moved homes. I used to look after her cats and chickens when she went on holiday.
So I’m tired out after all my jovialities.

Glad you got your running around done Mags.
Carpets are done but the doors need trimming, someone is coming next week but I can't use them till then, no doors. Dogs are going to run riot. Nothing is ever straight forward.

The thing with the refund was theoretical.

Kaily, I was going to suggest getting those child safety gates to stop Alfie and Daisy from running amok from room to room but they might think the gates are fences and start jumping over them! 😮

Yes Alfie would jump them and Daisy would probably fit through the bars. Thanks for the thought though.
