11 Months Today

I am so grateful to be 11 months sober today. I wish I had faced the music sooner but I was in denial for a long time as I tried to moderate my drinking. PAWS due to prescribed benzo use and alcohol abuse has complicated my recovery and I still suffer from physical and mental symptoms but I have no regrets about quitting alcohol and benzos. The non linear nature of the PAWS symptoms is nerve racking but I fight on. In general I am in a much better place than I was a few months ago but I have to keep packing my patience as this is a long arduous journey. I am so grateful to SR and all the people here. SR has been one of my most valued tools in my sobriety.:tyou

CBS, 11 months of recovery is great! I think that it helps to believe that you're right where you should be at this moment. Denial is a huge part of alcoholism, but now you are on the right track. My favorite quote from the brilliant Maya Angelo:

"I did then what I knew to do. Now I know better, I do better."

Congrats on 11 months CBS - I hope the impact of PAWs will get less and less as time goes on :)

Hi CBS…I remember your posts from several months ago…how much we had in common. The paws back then was horrible wasnt it? Im about two weeks behind you and will hit 11 months on December 1. Congrats to you and may your symptoms continue to diminish.
